Anyone knows if getting a metal nugget through prayer grants you the discovery( so that I can craft with it)?

It does not. Get a crucible so that you can smelt the nuggets into a bar and then smelt that bar back into nuggets to discover them.

if you've discovered any type of metal you get the option to make nuggets then bars so discovering a different type of metal that way is simple. if you have no metals discovered then shift click the nugget/bar onto a barter/vending stand then shift click it back to your inventory to get discovery.

Yes, only one of the two cornerposts must be "active".
