Re: Salem: 0 \ Haven: 1
Never wished for Salem to fail or anything (and I still don't wish it), but Haven&Hearth is **for me** just a lot better game. I'd want to see a few stuff from Salem in H&H (like not having to wake up every x hours to refill steel), but other than that, H&H is way superior - and that is including the graphics (3d does not automatically equal good).

As was stated earlier. Salem's characters look like fetuses.

Just sad for Jorbtar that their work was not liked as theyh oped. At least, it is hard for an artist to create something better than an godlike game

Re: Salem: 0 \ Haven: 1
I would say, as a lover of unique 2D games, working on haven more would prove to be a much better outcome, provided they actually do work on Haven and Hearth more now that Salem's sort of on the backburner. Iron out more kinks, add new content a little more regularly, try new things to see how the community likes them (for instance, the idea of those simple traditions or whatever, where you can shake someone's hand once a day and get points for certain special skills that let you cut down trees more quickly, or other similar odd actions. I think a system like that would breathe a lot of life into the game, if at the very least, to make it feel more alive, and not so mechanical all the fucking time.)
I gave Salem a try but was largely put off by (mainly) the graphics. I went into the game thinking it was going to be a 3d copy of Haven and Hearth - dark and centered around death and rebirth. But everything just looked so fat and cartoonish that I couldn't take it seriously at all. The whole "bodily fluids" thing or whatever it was called kind of put me off as well. I didn't understand it at first and even once I did, the concept just seemed a bit odd.
Not trying to shittalk Jorbtar though, I could never develop a game, so I couldn't rightfully say you guys did "bad" or what you worked together on is shit. I just feel that Haven is a much, much better game, if not for the sole fact that 2D games are an unjustly dying genre, one that I feel should stick around. Not everything has to be 3D, some of the best games ever have been 2D, and i just personally find 2D games to be more appealing (but honestly it depends on the type of game.), but to be a pseudo-rpg roguelike, I feel 2D is perfect for this type of game.
Anyway. If it means haven and hearth will be updated more, then this is good news, imo.
