Uhhh perc does increase your damage..hiro wrote:This.. make perc increase ur damage or atleast give it a possibility to critical hitLordtimo wrote:Thought the same some days ago. Just make it as in UA, where STR affects your DMG, let PERC affect your DMG, because at the moment the max Damage is capped from bow and arrow if im not wrong.

no in increases your chance of doing max damage....
i would like damage penetration for all attacks to exist, but bows need it most of all.

He didn't say max damage, he said damage. If you look at net DPS over multiple shots, or your chance of instakilling instead of pinging off a player, in both those cases your expected damage increases significantly.DeadlyPencil wrote:no in increases your chance of doing max damage....

Perception indirectly increases the chance of doing max damage. Perception raises your minimum damage and as max damage for a weapon is determined only by the quality of the weapon and ammunition and is unaffected by perception, perception only *technically* increases the chance of doing max damage.DeadlyPencil wrote:no in increases your chance of doing max damage....

Re: Archery to weak?
I'd argue that's a flat out direct relation. Albeit your actual chance of max damage depends on the target, any case where your PERC is less than x2 the agi of the person you're shooting at it's upping your chance of max damage and improving your average damage dramatically.L0dest0ne wrote:Perception indirectly increases the chance of doing max damage. Unless you're only intending to kill farmer alts, you'll want to grind your perc out the window where possible.
Edit: As to the subject. Archery is not really a main combat style. A couple skilled players have managed it, but in general it's a support skill. Once you have more than 3-4 fighters, adding an archer in to snipe kills where possible in battle is a pretty good idea.

Re: Archery to weak?
There is no need for such long conversations, since we all know what perception is and what agility is. And in endgame, there are simply such chars, that you won't hurt anyone with their armors on (i'm looking at big faction shooting at big faction, not just one good archer killing a noob).
So penetration is all we need. With EACH shot that hits target.

Exactly. I never quiet understood why UA was the only thing with penetration damage.ramones wrote:There is no need for such long conversations, since we all know what perception is and what agility is. Before this it was a concern with Swords and Axes mostly I believe. I can only begin to speculate on why range lacks penetration though. I assume it was due to the loud outcry against the strength of RBows.rye130 wrote:Exactly. I never quiet understood why UA was the only thing with penetration damage.

Re: Archery to weak?
Doesn't it hurt to punch through hard armor?
I mean its physics, the force you deal is equally reflected back onto your fist.
Unless for some reason hearthlings can punch like their fist is made of steel...
Arrows actually do have a better chance at penetration since some metal armors aren't typically more than a centimeter thick in one area.
Should we implement 'directional' attacks with close combat and arrows?
If a arrow hits a target that's facing away, it should deal more damage or penetrate at a higher chance.
Maybe it affects accuracy too since the target may not be aware to 'dodge' said arrow.
+10% accuracy if a target is facing away from you. Even if they move you will have a minimum of 0% + 10% aim chance as a bonus but only if they are walking away from you.
+15% damage increase if a target has his back to you.
As for close combat, I've read that it was nerfed recently so it doesn't give you a free hit anymore.
Instead attacking a fleeing enemy or a enemy that's facing away from you, nets a +15% combat weight bonus. Meaning if 100% attack removes 100% defense, you deal 15% additional in attack weight.
Otherwise it can be kept simple and you get +5 Advantage if you hit them from the back.

Re: Archery to weak?
and not to mention, being an archer means sacrificing the hell out of your inventory, bmjclark wrote:I like this idea. It also makes martial not 100% necessary just to "maybe" do some damage.cloakblade wrote:You can make Perc v Agl effect the piercing of the armor rather than just the damage.ramones wrote:Its not the damage thats the problem, its penetration. Each shot should do damage if it hits, at least some percentage, regardless of person armor. So its not needed to like 300 shot one person to broke his first armor, then 30x shot him to KO him then one last hit to kill. Like 1 shot takes like 30-40 shp, few hhp too (counting endgame hits).
MM is all fucked up though really. Early on, if u go martial early, you 1 shot people with a wooden bow. Later on, u 0 off them till people get bored and walk in a house or u run out of arrows.
you lost both of your hands and your backpack to carry more item, not to mention, buckets and some KILL LOOTS
though, speaking the real world, MOST hunters uses bow to hunt their prey instead using... sling (while sling has maximum advantage in the game to hunt animals)
and this Hearthling Hunters, while using bow to hunt, you cant butcher and cant carry some good numbers of loots, only 2 dead animal corpse in your boat
well, its game wise though, so SLING FTW !
