That is a problem of how claims and the LP system work though. Those have to be changed. The hhp damage thing is just one mechanism that is influenced negatively by it. In general the HHP damage system is a good idea to make the game more fair again.bmjclark wrote:The punishment of leaving scents should be just that, the possibility of dying due to a scent. But with this system in place, i think it's a better idea to at least have some kind of stat check for the hhp drain. Seriously, go walk around for a few mins, people have already started leaving massive claims on chars that are obviously alts with no other stats but some LP to drop a massive claim. It's become a game of cockblock the giant claim with tiny claims so people can't expand it to a point of you not being able to declaim it. I feel like these claims should hold less weight then an actual character that has more effort put into it then a glimmermoss a day. And should big villages not be rewarded more for making their claim big then just village idols with no expansions just to hold a clay node?

then why would you play hnh ? -_-changing a game that was for 4 years into a completely different game is not what i would like to see. am i whining? well not really i just liked the game. if it changes to much then it's not hnh anymore... if you want that well why don't you find other games instead on forcing hnh to change...Tonkyhonk wrote:or you just dont understand what it means to choose to play a criminal in a game. victims dont choose to be victims.parisparisparis wrote:You enjoy taking things out of context or you made a mistake ...
for you information- i am always the victim in game. i died countless of times randomly insta agroed while foraging. I never once killed or vandalized , and almost sure never stole from active player. AND i love it this way. some people are criminals some people are not. these are gameplay choices.

I don't play HnH since 4 years but i've see different changes (Study for example) - HnH is still HnH - still in development, still in testing, still alpha...and nobody but Loftar and Jorb determine what HnH is - not me not you ...parisparisparis wrote:changing a game that was for 4 years into a completely different game is not what i would like to see. am i whining? well not really i just liked the game. if it changes to much then it's not hnh anymore... if you want that well why don't you find other games instead on forcing hnh to change...

There are different views on how HnH should be - my opinion is to have a choice how to play it and that means to find a good balance for those that like PVP and those that doesn't like it... while i don't agree fully with Tonky in
i see a big unbalance for those that are more interested in the communicative, cooperative and crafting parts of the game (peasfools) like me instead of PVP and criminal playstyle ...victims don't choose to be victims
is the most lol argument... and in my opinion it's weird that you state you're a peasfool but whine about the loss of HHP when leaving scents...find another game

Re: HHP Drain for Scents Change
The solution to that problem shouldn't be something that feels as artificial as the HHP drain does and HHP drain doesn't really solve that imbalance IMO because everyone will just:borka wrote:i see a big unbalance for those that are more interested in the communicative, cooperative and crafting parts of the game (peasfools) like me instead of PVP and criminal playstyle ...
painhertz wrote:get some bandages and leeches and suck it up
The imbalance between peaceful and unpeaceful comes because dying isn't a meaningful consequence like it used to be.
Also note that I think it should be even more painful to steal from large, active villages. Having the HHP drain not be a static 1 HHP every time could also help stop or at least hinder vandal alts aswell. If you were to have your massive village claim over your q90 clay node and it costs 5 HHP everytime you dig, its going to be pretty tough to vandal that down.

Re: HHP Drain for Scents Change
Like rye said though, the hhp drain could not be capped at 1 if they have a big enough village claim so that vandalling them with a vandal alt would be near impossible unless you actually put stealth into the char. I'm surprised that you of all people are against giving big villages an advantage.burgingham wrote:That is a problem of how claims and the LP system work though. Those have to be changed. Re: HHP Drain for Scents Change
The main thing that this could achieve is really nerfing the power of abandoned claims (and with some other changes it could slightly improve the siege system if there was a way to drain a village's authority), promote expanding a claim to resource points instead of plopping down new idols, discourage no-stat claim alts, discourage no-stat vandal alts, give stealth some more viability, and it would still keeping the balance between active villages and criminals the same.

Im all for different play styles and im myself a 'peasfool'. I support different play styles and value others people choices. I don't want to be in the best position. I like challenge, the feel of unsafety and surprise. there is pretty much no other game like this and the hhp drain seems just not right. especially when the devs said this was to prevent scent spamming. unless they tell us that they want to punish 'criminals' artificially as a real gameplay mechanic- i will be cool with it, but until then i will be against it.borka wrote:.
And for my statement 'go play another game' yes i admit i went almost full retard there.

Re: HHP Drain for Scents Change
Well I am not (although I have been changing my perspective a little to cater more to small groups too, but that is not the topci here), but I think the reasons for this system not working out are not inherent to the system, but a problem of other game mechanics.bmjclark wrote:Like rye said though, the hhp drain could not be capped at 1 if they have a big enough village claim so that vandalling them with a vandal alt would be near impossible unless you actually put stealth into the char. Ultimately the LP system allowing for this claim warfare. I have become quite the enemy of the Curitosity system since it allows way too many severe abuses and most of all it got rid of permadeath.
