That would be very nice, of course (that's how I wanted to do it from the beginning), but the client's text rendering code doesn't support any markup right now, so it's kind of impossible. I hope to remedy it, but as I've written elsewhere, Java's text rendering APIs aren't entirely easy to penetrate.

Could we please get some color changes to the text. Just inputting darker text colors for all possibilities or changing the text box background to paved gray or some variant of gray might be a good temporary fix. At least until a solution can be found to make it the way you REALLY wanted it.
