Using 3x3 designs and engraved walls/floors I usually came up with all dwarves extasic. How's 2x2 working out?

Yeah, they're called "Tilesets"
Theres about 6-8 tilesets to choose from

Technically, no, but you can drop a tileset into one of the folders and simply edit the config file that points at where the tile graphics are found. Doesn't look too hard to make a tileset, but given the limits, there's not much variance in what you can do.
