That is his main point - it's not easy for beginners - and with every world it's getting harder - think about custom clients other than Ender and scripting...it's not just being veteran and know it all... anyone not seeing this is lying to himself...

40L water are 4 buckets - so you'll need a backpack at least to carry - when you have to decide between leather for backpack or Palli it's a hard decision for beginners...

I LOVED how I was thrown into this game a week ago dumb as all get out. I love how this game does not hold your hand. AT. ALL. I really do.
That doesn't mean it's not flawed.

Re: About the nature of the game
Actually, no updates besides the boat update, has made it easy for anyone new. Also the purpose of the boat update wasn't directed to help newbies, and the idea for making it easier for noobs has been mentioned about ooooh, lets see 500 or so times. If you have a critique for a new mechanic, go necro one of those threads.FFDreke wrote:I think it has to do with most everyone that plays this game doesn't really care about making it easier for new players, because it wasn't easy for any of us, So i think learning the game without crying, or begging for crutches to make your life easier is your best bet.
oooooooooohhhhhhh. I see! No changes have been implemented at all ever from in-between world 1 and present! Yeah, it totally makes sense that no one should even think about changing anything in the future no matter how well constructed it may or may not be. It's definitely not a bullshit claim. I was wrong. Everyone SHOULD just accept the game at face value without thought because YOU had a hard time. We should all have the SAME hard time. I can't believe I misconstrued that to be the very definition of maintaining the status quo. This isn't at all like the tradition mantra the military indoctrinates soldiers with. It's important to follow the heirarchy and set ways of the past, because that's the BEST way.
... Come on. Real discourse please.
Early world exploit: Put your hearthfire inside a cave, then hold shift to position a claim right in front of a cave. After 8 hours the claim will be unbreakable. Since your hearthfire is inside the cave, you can still get back inside, and leave, but nobody will be able to enter, effectively making you unraidable for the first 3-7 days. Enjoy

I can't believe how seriously and consistently you manage to simultaneously reinforce my point and miss my point.overtyped wrote:Actually, no updates besides the boat update, has made it easy for anyone new. Also the purpose of the boat update wasn't directed to help newbies.
No updates have made it easier for anyone new, but every update has made an increasingly larger gap between the old and new escholons. That's the exact same thing as what I've been talking about. Veteran players want more and more for them to reach towards, and are completely jaded to the effect this has on the game for a fresh entrance. The gap is always their in MMOs, but this one is edging out new players by exclusively designing content for high-tier players, further giving them an edge. And this whole time you keep spouting nonsense about it being the same difficulty as when you started, with the "deal with it" cop-out. How can you not see this? It really does seem like you're too jaded to appreciate it, because if you did acknowledge this, you would be straight up stating, "WE DON'T WANT YOU HERE, UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE MY STRESS RELIEVER!" That's the only way you could viably comprehend what's happening while maintaining your arrogant condescension.
Yet all I hear is "buck up, it's not hard."
Please, anyone else, rational discourse.

you do that to yourself, example: this thread.painhertz wrote:make every thread I post in ABOUT me
overtyped isn't the brightest bulb in the package but his heart is in the right place, many times there have been others who come to this forum preaching the same sermon (and usually without much eloquence). I understand the point you are trying to make even if he does not and regardless of what the majority opinion might look like there are others out there like myself and Sarge who don't actually think this game is 100% based on or around PvP.FFDreke wrote: I can't believe how seriously and consistently you manage to simultaneously reinforce my point and miss my point.

Re: About the nature of the game
OP pls stop crying. What you want from this thread ? Devs will not change game just for you, because you cant play in way what you like.
I am relative new to the game too. I started in Brodgar, played for a while, grouped with few nice people and have started small village. So far no problem with other players. We trying to communicate with others and be nice. Its possible. And when shit will happens, we can rebuild all again on different place. Its just nature of this game.
World is pretty big, so you can find your place for live too. Try to learn new things as much as possible. A lot of nice guides and information around (forum, wiki - RoB). All people what i see died when did any basic mistake, or ignore safety rules. Just all of them. And most of them quit the game after this. Who is wrong, community or people who ignore basic rules ?
This game isnt for everyone (like any other game). So if you dont like it, just leave and i wish you luck in searching for perfect game for you. There are a lof of people, who like this game and like it in that nature.

Hey, fuckwad. I love the black skills. I love the violent, and volatile nature of the games mechanics. I've already stated what issue I do take with, and you're a shitbag who loves to throw your weight around and flippantly toss the "casual/carebeare/whitenight/pussy" type comments everywhere anyone who takes issue with anything you don't, and obvious by your post history. I hate the fact that the community that already exists hates anyone who tries to join the game. You use your hours of playtime to curb stomp any newcomers who won't immediately start off as your bitch lapdogs. You are exactly what is wrong with humanity, and this game is apparently ran by fucks like you.
I don't go around "championing" any games, or do anything like this shit, so CHECK YOUR FUCKING BAGGAGE. You're garbage comment means nothing to me, and the same goes for all the other "hardcore" asshats out there that react this way to ANYTHING contrary to catering to their whims.
It's not about anti-pvp, it's about game balance, to which their is essentially none.
Phaen, I would take your offer of hospitality, but I'm finding ti hard to extend even basic trust to anyone in this games community at the moment. I'll probably end up nomading and hermiting eventually. I've learned enough about this game to know how to play, and I can get my progress back relatively easily. There's just no learning how to play the politics game. It's cut throat, and garbage, in real life and in virtual life, and I won't participate. So if you're serious about the hospitality, send me a PM or something.
(Also, I feel I should mention, just so everyone knows: FUCK WoW. Never cared for that type of game. I did play FFXI for 7 1/2 years, before it became garbage, but fetch quest, hot-bar bullshit is not my background. Stop you're ignorant insult swinging, because they've basically all been misses so far.)
And as the civility returns to the thread, so will mine. Thanks for your feedback guys.
Woah now, I suggest you get to know everyone before you make judgements. I have never in the game killed anyone, nor have i ever been murdered and ive been playing for ages (and no, i dont know everyone out there so i get protected). It's unfair for you to tar us all with the same brush.
Having said that, I like the fact that pretty much anything goes and there is risk even leaving your house. Nowhere has this game promised to be nice and gentle, you're thrown in at the deep end and you either sink or swim. In your case, i dont think you have the right frame of mind to enjoy the game as it is.

It's okay. I'm sure there's more people in the community who actually read and think. Turns out a lot of the forum goers are typical of all forum-goers. Short-attention spanned, for sure.Jessie wrote:FFDreke wrote:Having said that, I like the fact that pretty much anything goes and there is risk even leaving your house. Responding to each of the same damn bs response and trying to point out in my previous posts how what you said is baseless and moronic is tiresome. A few people are paying attention and like discussion, and then these others just like to feel like their voice is important.
