I've been hearing a lot of stories about getting raided, stolen from, getting murded, etc. and a few mentions of the "Wild Windsown Northwest"
Is there any one place mostly safe from all these? and is the Wild Windsown Northwest even a thing?

Why people playing HnH always search for a safe place? Its simple. Dont play this game.

I second this.Pickard wrote:Why people playing HnH always search for a safe place? Its simple. Dont play this game.
To the topic-starter: the further from the central grids, the safer. Also consider settling as far as you can from the water, mountains and swamps, and in case if you're really paranoid - stay away from any known spot of resources, such as q50+water, q50+ clays, q60+soil.

Re: Safest Place to Settle?
I hear these stories too.
Every time I do I log back into my accounts and check my 2 vclaims (which are atop of Pclaims, so they will not decay naturally), because I havent been playing for a while now. Just to see.
Get this. I started back up at the beginning of this world right? I never bothered in making a brick wall, because that is just too much work. Only a palisade, which should be screaming 'Raid me!' right?
Not one hole in the wall... No raid attempts, nothing. I live right on the river, something many players consider the worst idea ever. I live in the areas that are mapped, around several active villages (at least while I was actually playing the game they were active). Several villages around me had been raided, a few of them even posted on these forums with endless drama and whining.
Im starting to think these people who get raided just are leaving scents everywhere, trespassing on land and stealing from players, and other actions which generally would piss off people and bring unwanted attention to themselves.
Maybe its just me... Maybe. But I doubt it.
Oh, and one of my claims? Atop a q60+ soil spot.

You did it wrong. Make some gold pavement, its cheap. 20-30 large chests outside also helps alot.Seizure wrote:I hear these stories too. ...

its luck. I have had relatively decent luck since playing haven. As a newb I had a basic round pole, and instead of being griefed i'd find dead animals people leave outside my claim cause they knew I was a newb. when I did palisade it, still nothing. I was on the end of a river, small claim, small palisade, I would go out with my key..which I got copied by a Russian neighbour who had a set..which was just as well since I dropped it once in the river..
and similar things in other worlds, my share of crap too, but I've had newb alts around the supergrid on small claims, no fences or walls or anything and they have been untouched.
but I know a lot of people who get instantly in the wrong area, wrong time, get killed, get their stuff looted even though it's worth nothing...and it may not mean much to people who can get that stuff back quickly, but for many new players it's disheartening. so I get why they'd want to come to a safer area.

Distinct possibilities, of course.
I had not allied myself to anyone in the traditional sense, but those individuals I did meet I was a decent person to. I had went out of my way to interact with those surrounding me when I was active, and made trades which heavily favored those groups if I was able to ensure good relations.
Might have something to do with pretending to be a part of a large village too. The speed with which I made my initial claim and walls made a few people think I was in a village with more than 10 people... Too bad I burned myself out because of it.

yea some re more weary of people who seem to progress quickly. I know we had a hermit close by who we didn't believe played alone, cause he had a b12 within the first few weeks of playing, and probably better stats than half my town.Seizure wrote:Distinct possibilities, of course.

the other thing is how you do interact with people is important, most people will look to your favourably if the interaction was decent, though a few will just aggro on sight and not care...
