This would give us an infinite source of mid-quality food for cows that are of reasonable applicability. Currently Cows have the appetite of a Colombian Mammoth for minimal return. To just further that analogy for humor's sake I should mention there is a reason they are extinct! Trees are softcapped at 100-200 with significant achievement difficulties (Constantly remaking tables, localized resources) whereas farmed goods have a much higher and less difficult softcap with less achievement difficultly. THe contrast here is that production of super high quality cows from farmed goods should be unreasonably difficult so I AM NOT SUGGESTING THAT APPETITE BE CHANGED. Rather that lower quality cows be a bit easier to produce.
Alternatively or additionally, make grazed grass infinite. It's only Q10 This would be a significantly more balanced game mechanics that would allow us to reasonably make butter for baked goods. As it stands I promise you will never see another carrot cake, muffin, or apple pie, ever. The alternatives are just too significantly more valuable than these items.
Even so, Maybe those items should be buffed so they are worth producing. 2x FEP's would make carrot cakes worth producing at 90+ if the above suggested infinite food sources are added (or the cow diet is reduced to a realistic and practical level of manageability).
Also note that this suggestion is aimed at creating manageable balanced game mechanics fromt he status quo. If there is intent to further softcap farmed goods by making them dependant on some natural , localized or workable resource (like manure) then these suggestions may not be applicable. Of course...that would make the cow diet far more unreasonable anyway so the base of the argument stands for grass but maybe not the leaves.
Regenrating grass would also be reasonable and is proabbly the best way to do this. Making a game mechanic that forces people to allot a certain amount of space per cow while also giving an infinite source of low Quality food.

Feed cows mulberry leaves and make grass infinate or regen.

I definitely agree with the grass part. As it stands, a single farmer would have to devote most of his time playing to support 15 cows. That is regardless of quality. I like the idea that low Q milk might be easy to produce, while higer Q milk should take considerable effort, as the latter will soon be an incredibly valuable commodity.
I'm not sure about mulberry leaves, but I think the grass is a great idea. Something should be changed at least, as it stands cow stomachs are bottomless pits (at least when they're pregnant).

I have to agree, i very like the introduced system, but the values are far beyond good and evil.
Taming takes too long and is too hard for starters. It takes an eternity to gather enough COWS, not bulls-_-, to start a decent milk production and each cow eats a horrible amount of food.
While this sure reduces the ridiculous amount of cheese we used to produce, it also reduce basic cooking goods as ccs and applepies, which didn't give high fep anyway and were a good thing to trade for newbies.
Also, with the current quality values it would take like 3 IRL months (if you get +5 with each generation) until you get q100 milk(which doesnt even improve cheese that much because its pretty limited by the trays).

the grass should just not get "used up", or at the very least, be directly replantable (currently have to pave and then replant grass), or regenerate faster or something. or just reduce the amount they need to eat

i think its good that it gets used up, cause else you could hold endless amounts of cows (lq, but hey... we've been using that crappy milk for months now and it provides incredible cheese...) while one immediate effect of the new system is (and imho should be...) that milk (and cheese) is harder to get. but ofc, easy replanting is a must!
one other thing i was wondering is why the q of the soil has no effect on the q of the grass whatsoever?? whats the intention here?
and once again, cows eat too much! half their consumption rate and we have something to work with... pleeaase loftorb!

Yes well on that note, pehaps Tray quality shouldn't be quite so damn powerful?

Did any thought get put into the amount of food these cows eat? It's simply ridiculous. The price of milk will be far above that of steel or silk...

Re: Feed cows mulberry leaves and make grass infinate or regen.
My ISP failed me last night so today I had to trudge through knee-deep snow for five kilometers to get to the nearest internet cafe and feed my cows. Still waiting for the download, but I bet they're dead by now
So yeah, I heartily support this suggestion because shit like this always happens to me. I really don't see any harm in infinite q10 feed.

WEll in one sense yes. THink about this. THose with 200+ farming can eventually get 200+ bones. The saw Q soft cap has just been expanded. That is far more valuable than Q200 milk.Avu wrote:Did any thought get put into the amount of food these cows eat? It's simply ridiculous. The price of milk will be far above that of steel or silk...
Which is why i think infinate mid level (mulberry leaves) that take some work, or infinite low level that doesn't (Grass, re-spawning or infinite)
