Re: CaveIn at first tile? (and other mining related question
It did, one last question. Imagine I make 2 mine suports right next to each other, if I destroy one will I have a caveIn? even if that mine suport wasnt suporting anything?

hmm? i think i was around when that convo happened and my impression was that mine supports actually prevent any cave-ins. the higher rate of cave-ins from boulders is when you dont have supports built, iirc. have you had any cave-ins with supports where they cover the center of the tile? what (i thought) i understood was that there would be no cave-ins with supports but the radius has to be touching the center of the tile you mine, and most first tiles do not cause cave-ins as long as you avoid corners or something but existing boulders could make it happen.LadyV wrote:Yes the info is in the wiki but its hidden under mine support. It's a direct quote from Loftar.Amanda44 wrote:
Actualy, I didn't know that either and I have just left rubble that wasn't directly in the way or inside the base, seeing as i'm spending most of this world mining it seems, I should have known that really.
Still, better late then never, so thanks ladies.

I have had cave-ins even without collapsed debris within a support radius. As i said it is rare but it does happen.Tonkyhonk wrote: hmm? i think i was around when that convo happened and my impression was that mine supports actually prevent any cave-ins. the higher rate of cave-ins from boulders is when you dont have supports built, iirc. have you had any cave-ins with supports where they cover the center of the tile? what (i thought) i understood was that there would be no cave-ins with supports but the radius has to be touching the center of the tile you mine, and most first tiles do not cause cave-ins as long as you avoid corners or something but existing boulders could make it happen.

hmm, so was it not at the edge of the radius but well inside the radius?LadyV wrote:I have had cave-ins even without collapsed debris within a support radius. As i said it is rare but it does happen.
because that question and answer in wiki originally happened when this person asked loftar why cave-ins happened with a mine support, and loftar's reply was to ask if the tile he mined was actually "covered", the radius touching the center of the tile.

Yes the first such cav-in I had was fully three spaces in from the outside radius border. The second was about 2 in.
