I have just started out and I'm about to research yeomanry and settle down.
Is there any particular way I should build my first beginning character? (i.e. Farmer, Miner, etc.)
Is there a good beginning way to do this?

Re: How should I build my character?
this is already discussed often so you'd better search through forums and read i.e. sevenless guide which is even stickied - imagine every new player would post this question in an own thread ... and fun in HnH is to experience yourself ... and learn from mistakes ...

if your going to start a village with ur first character make sure he gets lawspeaking and grab ls when this is done you pretty much need to keep this one behind ur walls
so build him as a hermit farming, cooking, carpentry
Miners should always be alts as u never no when u'll get whacked by a troll or a rouge cave in

Re: How should I build my character?
2 Characters.
One full nature/change/peaceful/civilization. make him non combat, give him 2 traveler sacks for farming and always keep him in your base. Raise Farming, Carpentry and Sewing. (and VERY small amounts of exploration, enough to discover certain things to unlock recipes). Raise primarily the stats Dex (for sewing) and Int & whatever else you feel like. example- get con/agi if you feel scared of getting attacked (to negate/ take the least damage). get charisma if you want to make him your village leader (which is a good idea). never get str or psy.
One full industry, change, martial, barbarism. make him a combat character, give him your best armors and use him to forage and explore. Raise unarmed combat, exploration, survival and smiting. Raise the stats STR/AGI/CON/INT and some percetion and psy. Use him to mine. never get dex.

Re: How should I build my character?
COntinuing on this note, I'm wondering which stats I should work on. Right now I have two main characters, an indoor and outdoor.
Right now my outdoor character has 25 Exploration, 20 Survival and 13 Marksmanship. Which stat should I work on raising for now? Is getting up to 20 MM so I can hunt foxes a better priority than working on Survival and Exploration? Which of those two is more important?
Indoor character has about 20 farming, 16 Cooking, and 10 each of Sewing and Carpentry. Which of these should I focus on?

Probably exploration is your first choice, but also marksmanship. Perception affects both so eat carrots if you get your hands on some, to plant them.
Your indoor character should be leveling all of those, but your priority should be farming for Q of your shit, and dexterity+sewing for quality of straw dolls and other curios.

Raise exp x per for foraging. It's an investment.
And survival so the hardcap doesn't decrease the QL of things.
It will pay off.
