For those that don't have the Agility to take the Crossroads, you can take the slow road by boat. I figure posting this map isn't an issue as anyone who can get there to do harm can take the Crossroads anyway:

Obviously it's only the river junctions. Follow the red line to "Camp Bravo" first. It's basically a tiled road from the river that heads into the Northern Supergrid, passed a pallisaded camp with a cave in it (Camp Bravo). As it crosses a super-grid, you will have to get out and walk (and take your boat with you or build one on the other side).
Follow the red line and take the river to the junction West (Left) if you're boating up to the mine. The river dead ends there (slightly passed Bad's(?) place) and there's a path into the Mountain. Depending on your frame-rate, it's maybe 30 - 40 mins for the whole trip.
However, take the river East (Right) from Bravo if you want to see the clusterfuck that is two villages on top of Q82 Clay.
