I think he might have been hit moving

Le Crab was aiming at me trying to be sneaky while we fought through the wall so I kept running in for a second when the guy would get in close enough and then move away to lower Le Crab's aim on me
I managed to land a val as he was coming in close

After seeing you fight in spars, in your "Spar nite" vidya, I find it hard to believe that anything you do in combat is actually well thought out and or that you have any skill let alone capable of pulling off a movement VS.
