Re: i completely F**** up my computer
I use Windows because that's what they use at work and I have to be able to support it. According to Steam's OS spyware windows has lost 1% market share every year for the last 5 years. While they still have 85% of the desktop market, at some point those 1% will break the monopoly and other OS's will catch on to the masses.

Re: i completely F**** up my computer
You need to have drivers for the Hardware of your PC (normally you'll get a CD/DVD delivered containing just drivers or a restore one which restores your PC to default OS with drivers)shampizle wrote:Ok from the begining
i installed Linux mint 16 thinking i could use it as my new OS. i tried it out and it was bleh so now im trying to revert back to windows
now i dled a boot from usb program put it on a usb (15 gig)
rebooted the computer brings me to the install windows 7. go through and it says
No signed device drivers were found. Make sure that the installation media contains the correct drivers, and then click ok
_______________
anyone know what it means?
Windows DVD contains some default drivers already mainly for the chipset but depending on the age of your PC Hardware
what i don't get is
Normally you'd boot from Windows DVD, install it ( also format the partition and write a new mbr) and most necessary drivers gets installed, you can run your OS with rudimentary drivers and run update Windows and since Vista it should get you also missing drivers. Later you can get the latest drivers from HW manufacturers (recommended for graphic cards)now i dled a boot from usb program put it on a usb (15 gig)

Windows 7 installer has difficulty with some of the new bios and drive controllers. If you're getting missing drivers, try deleting all partitions on that drive and recreating it. The installer needs a specific type of partitions without needing drivers. You might need to boot into linux or a linux usb boot to delete the partition before Windows will recognize the drive even exists.

Throw your distro of linux into a vm to see if you like it. Linux is great with the exception that it doesn't have paid ui designers.

You prolly think of UEFI Bios and GPT tables but i think it is not the problem here as he would have some difficulties to install Mint 16 then ...
