Re: temp worlds idea
Salem had multiple servers and it did not work out, so now there is 1.

That has absolutely nothing to do with his suggestion. That was much different. All servers were the exact same thing.Vespasian wrote:Salem had multiple servers and it did not work out, so now there is 1.
Of another era.

I would agree. My point was that splitting the population is a bad thing.

Re: temp worlds idea
I agree the early period of the game is exciting and fun to explore but I don't think separate worlds are needed as much as late game things to do. More skill depth, harder to acquire items, maintenance... are more worthwhile solutions. I mean if you have could only forge the best items once you reach a certain strength or skill level that requires time. People rush things to fast as it is now and thus burn out quickly because they have it all.
To me the solution is expansion of in game things more than a new separate one.

Re: temp worlds idea
This, but it is very particular to Haven. I would love to see a temporary MMO world project in a similar vein to haven. Closest I've seen I guess is Eskill Steenberg's Love.Holya wrote:I've considered this idea too, but my assumption is the player base is too small for it to not affect the permanent world too much.
Also, I think you'd need to rebalance the flow of progression for a temporary world. The current system feels like it's built for long-duration worlds.
