this might be cool, yeah. while you have baby blue eyes you can pick a new charterstone spawn, so maybe a new wilderness spawn option would be alrightNeruz wrote: Actually; what might be good is if you had a 'randomise' ability you could use so long as you had the Baby Blue Eyes buff, hitting this button would re-spawn you in another random location.

All things considered, HnH is doing pretty well given the state and type of game it is, judging by the activity on the forums.

Re: Secrets of The Hearth
Oh I agree, lots better than ATITD and they actually want you to pay for it...lol Not to mention Unreal World which also (Shudders) wants you to pay for that. H&H is uber awesome, IMO just as it is. My only fears which has led to irate riotness has been the fear it would be flubbed up under the guise of making it "better".Neruz wrote:All things considered, HnH is doing pretty well given the state and type of game it is, judging by the activity on the forums.

... or you could've checked the PAQ page.Vetarnian wrote:Maybe you remember my flummoxed reaction to your political rant a while ago, where you cited Ayn Rand and Ludwig von Mises. This is another case where I feel the same uneasiness creeping back. As someone else pointed out in this thread, you're not American, but Swedish; five minutes' internet search reveals your real names and even where you're based.
I agree with Vetarnian here guys. H&H doesn't have as many players as World of Warcraft. Clearly something is wrong. Of course, we won't mention that the number of registrations that convert into ongoing active players is low for every online game.Vetarnian wrote:You won't be surprised to learn, then, that I agree with everything Rhiannon said. What his (her?) point is easy to see, because I made the exact same point last week. 4000 registrations, 300 stayed a fortnight, 20 still play. Pretty high attrition rate for a game that is free to play, wouldn't you think? What will happen when you start introducing subscriptions or RMT (or, heaven forbid, both)?
Especially one that's still an Alpha.
I don't know about jorb but I can tell you Chak's been whinging for the past two weeks about not playing when he actually has been (he came out and said he was) and the majority of the problems Chak's been whining about are well-known. See comment earlier about the game still being an Alpha. The devs have made various comments about overhauling the LP system, overhauling combat and overhauling hunger to address those issues.Vetarnian wrote:And when I used to make that point, what kind of response did it get me from some of your players? "Who gives a fuck where they are? Half of them are nubs who ragequit like you. 1/4 are JTG's alts and the rest are active players and their alts." That was Chakravanti, who, by the way, wrote in another thread about his "disenchantment witht he game in general." That's someone who defended the game against me, yet he's "disenchanted", too. What do you make of this?
Yeah, that's a lie. You can't steal everything you need from every other camp. Eventually you'll steal so much people will start rocking up on your doorstep asking for their stuff back (something we found when one of our own miscreants nicked someone's meat grinder from a claim). I also know a guy - who wasn't with us but had settled nearby - ended up dead because all he did was steal to survive. He stole from the wrong person who decided to track him down. I know because they tracked his scent back to his camp across the river and asked us if he was one of ours and whether he stole from other people as well. n00bie thieves don't last long.Vetarnian wrote:What Rhiannon was saying is that playing the game honestly (like, you know, my own little group was doing before we upped and quit) is not only scoffed at, it also gets boring; boring to a point where every player aims for the path of least resistance -- that is to say, avoid putting any effort into making stuff by just stealing it from someone else, like you have done with your little experiment in replicating the Newbie Experience.
And consider the fact that in order for you to steal, it means *someone* must be making that stuff and that those who are making stuff (like we are now) make a lot more than what gets stolen.
In short, your issues are either imagined (you try stealing everything and see how long you survive) or are already known and will be addressed in due time.
Also, lulz at Libertarian rant.

i like this ideaNeruz wrote: Actually; what might be good is if you had a 'randomise' ability you could use so long as you had the Baby Blue Eyes buff, hitting this button would re-spawn you in another random location.
That way you could jump around the map a bit until you found a good spot.
me and my friend will be starting over in wilderness, which is what we wanted in the beginning, the only worry is that we will be plopped in an awful spot or not far enough out, so then we'll have to keep making new characters till that doesn't happen.
i didn't mind the fact that it took me over an hour and a half of play and finally asking forum before i found a tree, what i really didn't like was the vastness of the abandoned camps and towns of which brodgar seemed to be the center.

Yes, that idea sounds rather good. As long as you don't interact with anything, you can still respawn in another spot.
Maybe limit it to a few tries, to prevent people from excessively scumming for a good site.
It might be an idea to have one of the NPC's in the spawn basement explain Baby blue eyes to n00bs.
