Is it Spice and Wolf?
yeah, i know where youre coming from, but actually my rule for manga/comics is the opposite. good works of manga almost always get longer than a volume or two, because it sells and the publisher encourages the creator to continue (also there is almost always a poll for readers to pick which they want to continue reading, and manga with least votes will be discontinued against the creators plan), and as what many creators often say, "the chars start "living" and move around by their own will". The exceptions exist when the creator has a concrete plan of his/her own story to end it short. Yet, publishers often try to encourage them to expand it when it is popular. Only movie makers and experienced super-popular creators with enough power and a large number of fan-base can do however they want. its probably different from literature where writers decide how long each of their work will/should be.WaitingforHaven2 wrote:I had made it a rule for myself not to watch animes with more than 26 episodes. Just seemed like a hassle to go through 100 or even more episodes of an anime and I always imagined the content would suffer too with a large amount of episodes. Although lately I broke with that rule and Monster would probably have ended up being one of the next shows to watch. Wasn't in time for this game however.
what is G.I.T.S.? (and sorry, i really dont know anything about this old comic book league.)borka wrote:oh G.I.T.S. is great too
oh cmon, you may not like it, but it isnt crappy (though the musicians may be, tbh), but it is a class entertainment!WaitingforHaven2 wrote:Easy indeed: Attack on Titan.
A catchy opening theme but a crappy anime. I can't believe I watched all those episodes hoping that the story would progress but it didn't move an inch.![]()

I was always curious what the conditions are to make an anime. In many animes the ending is pieced together rather hastily and often these endings are therefore disappointing. I figured some factor of insecurity must be part of the creation. So they can never really be sure when the show will end and how many of their intended goals they can fulfil in the series. That and there's probably a lot of time pressure going on during the production.Yet, publishers often try to encourage them to expand it when it is popular. Only movie makers and experienced super-popular creators with enough power and a large number of fan-base can do however they want. its probably different from literature where writers decide how long each of their work will/should be.
I only watched a couple of episodes, so I do not know *that* much about the anime (the setting during those episodes was just West-/East-Germany during the cold war time and shortly thereafter). And I do not know so much about eastern europe either sadly. Although I have vague ideas about how people in some countries feel towards some things. I saw this from a limited perspective with the focus on Germany.as for your monster comment, it is more than just moral dillemmas but that is indeed the start of the story.
it challenges your intelligence, and id understand those who are not used to reading or thinking a lot might not enjoy it; it demands the audience to think a lot. it is never an easy watch to waste your time for fun like many animes do.
also, its not just about west/east germany but ex-czechoslovakia, and those eastern european countries, iirc. oh yes, and ofc i enjoy hearing some mistakes and errors found in the story to see how well Urasawa, the creator, had researched beforehand.
I'll just blame haven here for dulling my senses towards this. Seeing gazillions of quickly introduced characters die and their friends crying, shouting and going for revenge doesn't give me the thrills (anymore?). Maybe it would have impressed me when I was younger. It did not do the trick for me this time. And I simply felt cheated by the creators. Up to episode 7 or something the story progressed at an unbelievably fast pace (I thought it was too fast to be true). What kept me watching was the hope that all those mysteries which they had introduced would be revealed at some point (what's up with these giant humans? Is this a reference to man's nature? Is it a sinner theme? What did his father try to tell the main character? and so on). But the story literally stagnated. All I got were tons of deaths while they kept my hopes up. I felt this was just an attempt to bind people through cheap emotion. I don't see how this is something good. It's just another step towards more profanity in television and more rough manners (okay, I may be overly dramatic here but those are my feelings towards this).oh cmon, you may not like it, but it isnt crappy (though the musicians may be, tbh), but it is a class entertainment!
