But if you would actually count speed in also, You can swing two swords faster than a bastard sword.

Edit: Incase you don't know, a Bastardsword is a half and half sword. Its basically a one handed sword that is almost a two handed sword.

This is one of the rare instances the D&D is actually right. Dual wielding is not a matter of wielding two swords. It's almost always wielding one longsword and a shortsword or dagger (e.g. 'parrying blade') or assasin style double dagger.

The only exception to this that i've ever seen as so fucking badass that it's an acceptable exaggeration is is the boss of SoulCaliber in which he wields a such a ridiculously huge sword it make cloud strife look less emo and his offhand is a rapier which is realistically too large to be a 'parrying blade'.

Dual wielding should be confined to assasin, swordsman & barabrian credos. THe latter in which dual wielding small axes is actually reasonable (for all you dorf zerker fans).

You can't swing two swords that total the weight of the bastardsword faster the way you describe it. F = MA you only have so much force to give, the masses of the weapons are the same so the acceleration is equal.

Yer, the second weapons was mostly for parrying, similar to how a shield blocks or disarms. But what he described was different. I think two weapons style is a valid addition but it's the complete false physics argument that bugs me.

Jackard's facetious badass argument while completely ridiculous is still better than their physics argument.

Leverage my friend. Being able to use both hands with a hand-and-a-half sword gives you great leverage, especially using a push-pull motion with your hands. It's the difference between using a hand sledge hammer versus a full sized sledge hammer. Even though the hand sledge might only weigh four pounds, you can only use one hand with it. The full sized sledge is much faster to use, despite being up to twice as heavy, because of leverage.

Your ignoring physics here, you don't magically get twice the strength using two swords over one sword with two hands then your damage is the same because force = mass * accelleration and there is only so much force you can put into your swing so twice the mass means half the accelleration, the resultant force is again the same.
I was being sarcastic as hell.
I was only pointing out that if you keep the acceleration the same (by doubling power source) while increasing the mass, you would, as shown by the equation above, necessarily increase the force. The mode I proposed for doing this was supposed to be blatantly preposterous, but I guess I need to work on my blatancy. my bad.
But anyway, I was just having a poke at Onionfighter. What it comes down to is just that, however implemented, dual wielding would be awesome. So would a two handed sword. B12 axe is cool and all, but when it comes to weapons, the more the merrier.

Hell yeah, zweihanders (I apologise for lack of umlaut) would be awesome. I wonder if landsknecht clothes would be out of place in the setting?
