Well, if we are going to mention bridges, then, lack of horses -

Seriously though, we have all manor of animals but not the one in constant use during the time for transportation, haulage, ploughing, etc. It would be amazing to race across the hearthlands on horseback and to see the warriors ride by in their regalia on their way to battle.
