The fuel of this game's community is being shit(posters) and I like it that way. Atleast people are outspoken here.

Early world exploit: Put your hearthfire inside a cave, then hold shift to position a claim right in front of a cave. After 8 hours the claim will be unbreakable. Since your hearthfire is inside the cave, you can still get back inside, and leave, but nobody will be able to enter, effectively making you unraidable for the first 3-7 days. Enjoy

Re: The Ghost of Christmas Future
I think the main problem is that JnL suffer from indecisiveness. There is no fuel to drive them forward and they lack the will to ask for money from the community to force them into a more driven development. They rather chill and work on it at there leisure, micro speed without effort or energy. All we ask of them is to get there shit together and start getting there hands dirty. There is of course other games but wouldn't hurt to see this particular game get developed as whoever is still visiting this forum show interest. Its a bit wasteful of JnL to waste this audience while they are trying to make up there minds on giving Haven a bigger commitment.

Re: The Ghost of Christmas Future
I'm not sure if I can agree with the idea that they work at microspeed -- their development speed is fairly consistent and honestly is on par with substantially larger indie studios if you look at World 3-4 development and Salem development, with bumps only coming up when they are stymied on tough problems. J&L seem to work well as a pair and have a formula down that keeps them going too. They're just very ambitious in the scope of what they hope to accomplish and try out experimental solutions which don't always turn out well. In terms of development that's not a problem, you just keep trying until you get a solution that works out for the game. Unfortunately, as players we see it very differently when we're given something, adjust to it, and then it gets changed. In both Haven and Salem there have consistently been shitfits thrown when mechanics didn't work out perfectly when they were first implemented. I feel this has perhaps slowed down their experimental process as they have become more and more reluctant to release just anything out into the wild, but those are just my speculations.
I'm also not sure I can agree with the idea that they're wasting an audience. The bulk of the players aren't visiting the forums and instead are elsewhere waiting for Hafen to come out. The moment that Hafen comes out word will spread like wildfire and people will be jumping on board again -- which is why I imagine J&L have been trying to keep hype and press to a minimum about the project until it's in a state that people are likely to enjoy. Players and testers are nice to have and essential to working out the kinks, but you don't want a flood of people as the bulk of them won't enjoy a game that's too rough.

Re: The Ghost of Christmas Future
I'm only speaking for myself here, but I really like this game the way it is. I am still enjoying the crafting, building and designing of the game and I am slowly trying new things. The fact that the tougher guys are taking a break atm is giving those who are not really into the whole pvp side of things a chance to go out and explore rather then sit at home being frightened to go outside of their walls. It is somewhat safer these days to go out foraging and exploring with the bigger guys fighting each other rather than noobs. I'm not in a huge hurry for changes to be made as I said before, some of us are still enjoying things the way they are.
