Food decay reminds me of the game "Dont Starve"

I've been hoping for a more involved farming system for a while, where weather, soil nutrients, pest control (insect and animal) and disease are all relevant factors in farming, and food decay is relevant to cooking, storage, and surviving the winter... All of this in a MMO environment, specifically Haven.
And even preserved foods don't last forever.

Why are you implying that new content or more steps in a process is the same thing as grind? You wouldn't instead consider it to be additional content added to the overall process to either make it:LadyV wrote:To be fair other than more steps in food prep it would only affect few things to add decay. vegetables. fruits, meats can all be preserved for months if not years, even with the timelines technology. Only raw items would be affected. So all you are adding is another step and more time to make and keep food. And since you want to add such that means farming is even more important becasue those few raw items you have to constantly replace or use up.
As I mentioned before it only adds grind. If farming becomes easier then maybe. But as a farmer the thought of playing a game where I already have to spends time each day to gather food and now have to preserve or use up in some recipe so it does not go bad is not desirable.
a) more interesting; or
b) more difficult.
From Wikipedia:
"Grinding is a term used in video gaming to describe the process of engaging in repetitive tasks during video games. The most common usage is in the context of MMORPGs like Realm of the Mad God, Tibia, or Lineage in which it is often necessary for a character to repeatedly kill AI-controlled monsters, using basically the same strategy over and over again to advance their character level to be able to access newer content."
How is that akin to what they are talking about in terms of food decay? You truly don't feel that all of this additional content would eventually work together at some point? Like Lunarius said above, some people do enjoy cooking and farming quite a bit and would wholly appreciate more extensive systems and honestly, what they are talking about does not sound like it would be any sort of repetitive process, just additional steps. That is not grind, it is content.
Sorry if you still feel differently.

I'm sorry I really do not wish Haven to be a simulator. I much prefer it to be a fun game rather than lets realisticly simulate life of the times. Because if we do just that I can promise you your whole game will be mostly collecting food.Lunarius_Haberdash wrote:LadyV wrote:As I mentioned before it only adds grind. Do you really desire to skin and butcher a q300 cow then immediately salt, dry, brine, pickle...all that meat so it does not go rancid. Then have to make sure you use all those eggs before they go bad? All those grapes have to be made into wine or jelly....
Haven is a game with real people dabbling into a life slightly better than medieval in a fun platform. The game should balance fun with skill and even a bit of learning. Too much of anything you and draw down interests. The majority of people in Have already complain of farming and cooking. To make things even more complicated only makes things worse. And Id rather see Haven keep people playing rather than drive them away.

Kaios I know the definition of grind. My use is correct. And I did reply to Lunaris. I've farmed and cooked for trade and at large village levels. I can most certainly assure you all you will achieve is driving people away or foster more bot use.Kaios wrote:

It's not though, not in my opinion. If it were you'd essentially be saying you hate every single process already implemented in to the game because guess what, it's the exact same thing only with less content applied to it. However undesirable it may seem to you, still not grind.LadyV wrote:My use is correct.

I like the idea of Roads. A serious trader could open up a post along a road. Charge more, but offer protection from any highwaymen. Opens up a more realistic trading system. Real trade hubs and "work" for pvp lovers. They could ride "shotgun" in the wagons...and somehow posted in the wrong update thread.lol

Excuse me? Please do not put words in where I did not say. And no I do not hate what exists. Is farming as it exists a grind, yes. Do I enjoy it as it is, yes. Would I enjoy still doing that same work load and then add up to twice more? No!Kaios wrote:It's not though, not in my opinion. And for clarification try option 3 of grind in this link.

Fine, I would now like to refer you to my post here and ask that you simply stop shouting "NO I DON'T WANT IT" and open up your mind just a bit to the possibilities.LadyV wrote: Excuse me?
