Re: Parents murder kid (discussion on death penalty)
This thread... I'm not sure if I should be more sad at the crime committed or the reactions to it.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

Re: Parents murder kid (discussion on death penalty)
I stopped at the 1st sentence, to 1st say, let me tell you what a low life scumbag little dicked low-iq loser you are...(Does that make you want to read the rest of my point?). Now I will read the rest of yours and see if any of it is worthy of any further comment.....reading...reading....wandered to my son's monitor as he plays Happy Wheels....back to reading....sees idiotic rant about lesser crimes and some one who had an "Accident" being the target of some victim's demand for the death penalty, in comparison to premeditated torture and murder...rolls eyes at the ridiculous LACK of a point in such an analogy....nope...nothing else to say....thank you for your comment.overtyped wrote:Let me tell you what a fool you are. Let's say for arguments sake that there was a lesser crime done. Let's say you accidentally crash your car and kill someone, and the family of the deceased are equally as upset as the people who have been killed in this murder case. Would you think it just if you are murdered to make the people involved "feel" a little better? Life is already cruel, nothing of value is gained by killing two people that will never leave prison again.Rhiannon wrote:"Justice" is the equal or balanced compensation for a loss. You can get "justice" for someone stealing and crashing your car. A few years in prison for the violation of your property and compensation for your financial loss. You cannot place a dollar amount or anything else on a human life. And nothing you get will replace, bring back or equally compensate you for your loss. The death penalty is vengeance... So, while it is true that I do not consider the death penalty "Justice" but instead is "Vengeance". I believe Vengeance has value and can heal and can be "just".
So I want them dead, dead, dead...not because it will compensate (Justice) for that child's life...but because it serves a soothing, healing and just purpose....the satisfaction of vengeance when deserved AND desired by those who can be healed by it.
Those who do not NEED vengeance will not ask for it, nor seek it, nor get anything from it. Those who do, will. And if you have a problem with these 2 animals being used to satisfy that need, or denigrate those whom will find the satisfaction healing or of value...well, that's why we are humans and not penguins. I do not value your LACK of that need anymore or less than those who do have that need. And since these animals forfeit their lives by their actions, at least their death in the service of vengeance serves some purpose to someone besides sapping 50 grand a year to house the beasts.
Also I already said this but you didn't appear to have read anything I wrote so I will say it again. Executing a prisoner is more expensive than keeping them alive.

People with anger issues like this should have had certain reliability tests before being allowed to have kids. Financial reliability to prevent the amount of orphans, mental reliability to make sure you're able to function well enough to handle a kid. Kids aren't just fun and games. They're hard work. All of this could probably have been prevented since the parents were probably known for having issues. I wouldn't blame the parents too much on this matter, it's the lack of good governance.Rhiannon wrote: I stopped at the 1st sentence, to 1st say, let me tell you what a low life scumbag little dicked low-iq loser you are...(Does that make you want to read the rest of my point?). As for Rhiannon, I'm not here to argue with you. If you're not even capable of taking someone's opinion in consideration, why would I even try. But please, think before you take your anger out on your kid.

lol....omg, some looser on a game forum gives anger advice and actually associates a post with real life behavior and even mentions their children..lmao It's an illustration of his lack of skills as to how silly it is to speak to someone in a discussion by first calling them a name and expecting them to read any further..lol now go take a pill ya sad sap, since you are taking yourself way too seriously..lmaoSectory wrote:People with anger issues like this should have had certain reliability tests before being allowed to have kids. @Rhiannon
just go and execute the Death Penalty yourself if you think those 2 deserve it and face DP afterwards yourself ... and there's prolly someone who calls for it and is asked to execute it on you ... and someone then calls DP ... ... ...

it depends. i can imagine lethal injection can be quite pricey. no matter how pretty it looks for those invited for the show, execution is inhumane enough for the executioners too.overtyped wrote:Executing a prisoner is more expensive than keeping them alive.
why not? i can already imagine who you are like. angers aside, you dont seem to have any argument to refute either.Rhiannon wrote:gives anger advice and actually associates a post with real life behavior

Re: Parents murder kid (discussion on death penalty)
With the way our system works it costs the US more to execute someone than to house them for life. Recently a California judge barred the death penalty within the state even because, in our attempt to make it as humane as possible, we've made the most inhumane, convoluted mess imaginable. We're housing death row inmates for 30, 40 years, sometimes longer at an average cost of $90k a year. Meanwhile keeping a regular inmate is closer to $45k a year, about half the price.Tonkyhonk wrote:it depends. i can imagine lethal injection can be quite pricey. no matter how pretty it looks for those invited for the show, execution is inhumane enough for the executioners too.

interesting. what makes that big difference of the cost for death row from other inmates sentenced to hundreds of years?TeckXKnight wrote:We're housing death row inmates for 30, 40 years, sometimes longer at an average cost of $90k a year. Re: Parents murder kid (discussion on death penalty)
It's primarily the automatic state appeals, automatic federal appeals, and the additional trial costs when these occur. The goal is to give people on death row every chance possible to prove their innocence.

Re: Parents murder kid (discussion on death penalty)
yeah, im sure they cost a lot, but dont other inmates have the same fair opportunities to prove their innocence?
the info on death penalty here is almost all hidden except for a short report after its done, which is probably considered extremely inhumane by american or european standard, and people in general dont know the true costs of executions but only controversial internet hear-says around. (or i may not be searching enough.)
