Ridiculous inventory system
How has nobody found it strange that a hearthling can carry four huge wooden boards with no issues whatsoever but is absolutely unable to carry a couple dozen bugs? I think inventory should change radically in the next game. Anybody agree?

Re: Ridiculous inventory system
Inventory management is a complex issue that has no right answer but lots of wrong ones. Aiming for realism isn't particularly fun or a good way to setup the system. No one wants to have a billion tiny scattered ants in their inventory and deal with clicking on them, as we've learned from inventory systems that did practice this, such as Ultima Online, where it was easy to lose items in your bag. The bigger complaint is usually how limited the storage size is. By only permitting such a small inventory you force players to make an excess of trips to accomplish small tasks. It can take you hours to gather all of the wood necessary to build a palisade for example. This time spent isn't challenging, merely laborious. A better solution would be to give us alternatives that become reasonably available as we progress, much like the wagon and cart currently do.
If your only qualm is with how silly it looks that a board is 4x1 and that an ant is 1x1, then you'll probably have to learn to live with it.

Eh. I'm just pissed that I have to spend hours transporting material from one place to another solely because of the ridiculous inventory system. I think there should be "folders" in your inventory, each for one type of item. As an example, in a special folder for seeds, you can carry dozens or hundreds of seeds, but in a folder for wood, you can carry only a handful of logs.

I agree it needs changes but most are simple. Like being able to rotate objects to fit in your inventory or small items of the same quality stacking.

I have heard of seedbags, that is the inspiration behind my example, but instead of a "folder" for seeds only there should be a folder for other types of items as well. And yes, stacking is another option.

I agree. You can already stack coins, so a workable stacking system is already implemented. Wonder why they didn't implement it for other objects. We'll see what they do with Haven 2 I guess.
