Haven is what matters, indeed. We do not see a distinction between the two. You are playing an old, outdated version of the game that is several iterations behind our actual, present technology level, and we frankly do not consider the old version to be much more than a placeholder at this point. Minimum effort will be spent maintaining it, and there is no other priority to be made.Jesus_Smith_Nandez wrote:Jorbtar you have to realize, as important as Hafen is, no one is playing it. Haven is what people are playing right now, and it's what matters right now. You're literally making people quit because of rampant, easily fixable bug abuse, and the less people dedicated to Haven, the less people will transition to Hafen when it comes out because of their negative experience with haven and with you, the devs. Shit like ignoring bug reports and telling people to wait and deal with it is something that doesn't make me want to become invested in any of your future projects.
If you do not like what we do, who we are, or how we act, then you are entirely free to go someplace else. We, for our part, are most likely not going to change.
I think your market analysis is entirely inaccurate. I scarcely think our reputation matters much at all if we indeed manage to build the amazing game that we want to build.
Please and thank you.

You are right, however, in that we can get better at systematically handling bug-reports.

You still need to maintain the game, no matter what you think. I see your point that you're developing another game, and this is just an outdated placeholder, but the fact that we have no choice between this outdated placeholder and the product you're working on makes your justification of neglecting it invalid. This is still a game that hundreds of people are playing and doesn't deserve to be ignored because you have other things to work on.jorb wrote:Haven is what matters, indeed. Jorb did agree they could be better at handling bug reports. He also said they do minimal effort to maintain the game. As fix's do occur, even if slow, it shows they do care. New things and updates may not be to our liking but the game is still here, running, and updated as needed.
Now if the same situation appears once the new version of Haven happens then you have more of a point.

So say 'thanks' to show that you have been raised by nice people - and if you feel like it: click the man on the bottom of the page and fill in the details.

Re: Alt spawning breaking combat
I think I understand what jesus means, it's not about entitlement or making demands but about what we can expect from the game in the long run. I would also think twice before recommending a game made by devs who say they won't change no matter what the users think, that's bad marketing. But they say they don't care so that's not a problem for them.
Of course we can't demand anything from the devs. It's not only an alpha but it's also free, that by itself means we have no claim in demanding anything.

@Venatorventor
No I think his question was why are you not maintaining the current game while you are developing. I can understand his desire to have what we currently play still developed but in practicality it really is a waste of their time beyond simple maintainence. The current game is simply to old and as such with older code patching and patching just creates new bugs and hole of mistranslation between older code.
As long as they keep the game running and fix what has to be as needed I think that's fair. As I mentioned above if they maintain a standoff attitude after the new version is released then I think its fair to argue for more development. Til then give them some benefit of the doubt I think.

Re: Alt spawning breaking combat
What I was talking about was this that he said:
I agree with jesus' reasoning but I don't think it's the case now. The devs do care, they just make poor marketing out of it and pretend they don't. For example, people were complaining a lot about the alt summoning exploit. They fixed it, but instead of doing like every other dev on their blogs and post a stickied flashy announcement like HAVEN UPDATE V. 0.1455 CHECK OUR LIST OF FEATURES, showing that they are working on it, they don't tell anyone and let us find it out by ourselves. I believe they do pay attention to some things we say and that the new game's features are a clear evidence of that, but they pretend to be bitter and stubborn. But that still makes a poor impression so what jesus said isn't completely wrong in my opinion. And are there still a few major bugs to fix.Shit like ignoring bug reports and telling people to wait and deal with it is something that doesn't make me want to become invested in any of your future projects.
