Last time I played was 2011, which I believe was world 4. Has there been anything that has changed drastically or is everything pretty much the same?
EDIT: Is Ender's Client still working?

Re: Getting back into the game - what's new?
Immediately after world 4 they implemented the Curiosity system for LP gain instead of LP gain from actions. There's discovery LP now and the discovery system, which unlocks recipes for you as you discover the base materials for constructions and objects. Discovery is done by harvesting/crafting/gathering something for the first time. Just being handed it or picking it up off of the ground does not count as discovery.
Lots of little things that aren't worth mentioning at the moment. You can take the skulls of dead hearthlings, lots of combat tweaks, and stuff like that.

They adjusted a number of mechanics. For example, you can no longer mine safely without mine supports. Snake mining doesn't work anymore.
