He should probably leave the decision to Loftar if he's not really sure what he wants.

I'm not against a finite map. but 25 square kilometers is roughly the size of my state's capitol. You could make the map 95 square kilometers and it would STILL have people meeting regularly once we get up to 1k player base.

How dense population is is relative to the number of players. Perhaps you can implement some sort of theoretically infinate map gen that only allows expansion based on the number of average active players. Then manage to find a balance in that algorithm through tweaks based on desired population density within the game and our experience with the effects of such.

Doing this would doubly serve to protect the server from some random faggot macroing an expanding map by walking forever with nubs and eventually pushing the server beyond capacity and crashing it.

I'd say that save the new grid generation 'till you've got some interesting terrain features or something to test.

I remember Loftar being able to quote unique connections. I'm sure there is a way to account for multiboxers.

You know, it is sorta funny. I was lurking 2chan threads the day before yesterday trying to find the best place to put an ad up for this game.
I guess I shouldnt do that now, eh?
