Well if you think you can't get the best of the 10$ monthly subs that would expire after the end of the month, you might prefer the 15$ 1 month game time, that way, even if you only play 1 week in the month you bought it, the 3 remaining weeks are always yours.Cece wrote:i prefer cash shops instead of a expensive monthly suscription, i can't suscribe every month and it wouldn't be worth it if i can't even play much.
im forced to pay to progress when i could have just played a free game with cosmetics and premium content.

Pretty sure it only acts as a regular 1 month sub "In other words, it works the same way as a subscription once used." ~store page. It's only more expensive than a regular 1 month sub as you can trade it ingame.Redempter wrote:Well if you think you can't get the best of the 10$ monthly subs that would expire after the end of the month, you might prefer the 15$ 1 month game time, that way, even if you only play 1 week in the month you bought it, the 3 remaining weeks are always yours.Cece wrote:i prefer cash shops instead of a expensive monthly suscription, i can't suscribe every month and it wouldn't be worth it if i can't even play much.

Re: Pay 2 Play
I would pay $30 on the spot as a one-time fee for unlimited access to the game. I would also pay extra for neat cosmetic benefits, like maybe a skull-designed house for my village, or a custom cape that I can wear while beheading my enemies.
I feel like there's plenty of viable ways to monetize this game that do not seem outlandish to veteran players and do not muck up the competitive, non-p2w environment of the game.
Hell, why not just release this on steam? This game is better than half of the shit people pass off as survival-based, competitive RPGs. Rust, Reign of Kings, and Don't Starve are practically garbage compared to Haven & Hearth, so I bet this game would have huge potential to really rake in some dough through Greeenlight.

Re: honest thoughts
First sorry for saying you were sounding stupid, I'm just a bit overwhelmed by all the negative comments. Secondly, thanks for clarifying your thought.higherark wrote:Actually if you would read between the lines you would realize the point I'm getting at. I was not saying they shouldn't charge anything for it, but choosing to ignore the way this has been handled is willfull ignorance. No information was given out and apologists are cropping up everywhere making excuses for the devs. There is no excuse for not being open with the community. If a product has been increased in price you are supposed to demand an answer, not roll over like an idiot and pretend everything is fine.Redempter wrote:Wow, did you even read what you just wrote?! That's like saying "The thing I could use for free, the thing you put so much time into creating and that cost you money to support every month and that I never paid for, now you want me to pay for it?! Fuck you!" That's how stupid you sound.higherark wrote:Just because you can afford something does not make the pricing acceptable. Charging money for something that used to be free? How is that something that I, or anyone else for that matter, should just shutup about?
Furthermore the original point I was making was that a cheap product is not always acceptable. I don't think I need to explain why the excuse "It's affordable so that makes it ok" is stupid.
The miscommunication was probably a bad part of all this but you can't say this is a cheap product, I never saw a game as complex gameplay wise as Haven 1 (The only one coming close to mind is Space Station 13) and now they are trying to make a new better version of it! The graphics might not please everyone but I'm pretty sure that the gameplay can only get better and if we get them the support they need it will become one of the best game out there, people just need to get the crap out of their eyes to see it.

Is that for sure? My account will get 720 hours that won't be wiped after a month?Redempter wrote:Well if you think you can't get the best of the 10$ monthly subs that would expire after the end of the month, you might prefer the 15$ 1 month game time, that way, even if you only play 1 week in the month you bought it, the 3 remaining weeks are always yours.Cece wrote:i prefer cash shops instead of a expensive monthly suscription, i can't suscribe every month and it wouldn't be worth it if i can't even play much.

Re: Pay 2 Play
Ive come out of lurking just to post my thoughts on this.. so here goes.
I don't think i will be playing HnH after my free time runs out.. After being able to play this game for free all this time, however on and off it has been, paying for game time is a ridiculous notion. If i get the desire to play, ill most likely stick with Legacy.
I would like to point out, because people seem to think everyone who is against paying is a jobless poor person, that money is not an issue, i could afford this easily, i simply disagree with the method that is being used to profit from this game. As much as a store would have sucked, i would have preferred it over a subscription system.
I would have gladly payed up front, say $20-60, like buying a new game, because it pretty much is. But paying for game time, regardless if it only counts down while your online or not, is not acceptable to me.
Also note, that im not against a game making a profit, i understand the desire for the Devs wanting to make HnH, such an old and awesome game, into a source of income for the work they put into it, but throwing such a big change into effect without warning the community first was a huge mistake.. you should have been much more transparent, allowed feedback and suggestions that would have allowed for profit, but still allowed free players without limits, be it cosmetic-only store items, which would have destroyed the Pay2Win Store fears, but allow for people to support the game and receive something cool to show off for it. I don't know, im not a market genius, but you don't have to be one to know that subscriptions are a dying tactic, micro-transactions and in-game stores are the way things run nowadays.
Ill use World of Warcraft as an example, the most notable and longest standing subscription based game, their subscription count is now down to 5.6 million, the lowest its been since Vanilla (5 expansions ago) and is continuing to drop every month, and that's not counting the people who have switched over to paying with in-game Gold, since they added WoW Token, people can buy WoW Token for $20 and sell it in-game on the AH for 20-30K Gold, people buying 1 month of game time for 30K can easily make up that 30k within that 30 days, effectively playing WoW for free.
Those are my thoughts, Im sorry to see the game go in this direction, i wish you all the best.
Kind Regards,

Re: Pay 2 Play
The thing is, game like Haven and Hearth with a centralised server, cost a lots of money to maintain monthly. If they made people pay a one time fee and rely on eventual cosmetic items being bought, they might not make it.SeventhSandwich wrote:I would pay $30 on the spot as a one-time fee for unlimited access to the game. Let's not forget these are two guys trying to make it as a game studio, they are not big shots like Bioware or Blizzard that can afford to be free to play with some on the side items being bought.

Re: Pay 2 Play
Ok so i have to point out that i haven't played HnH for that long, but i still really enjoyed it and just didn't have the time to come back and with the new update i was really hyped to get back into the game.
But when logging on i saw this "p2p" thing and to be honest: I understand it. These people are trying to make money and we should give them some so this game can grow. I've also seen many people saying, that a one time pay of 20-60 $ would be better and i aggree. But you have to keep in mind, that there aren't enough people playing this game to relly make a good income of a one time payment game.
But i will probably only play with my free time withoput subscription. That doesn't mean that i don't want to, but rather that i'm not 18 yet and my parents would probably kill me. Other people might also have reasons not to buy a subscription or game hours and i understand them too.
In my oppinion the best would be a one time pay for 40-50 $ and to make it long time effordable a lot of cosmetic items and custom skins for players and structures (but pls no pay2win).
Also PLEASE bring this game on Steam. I think it would make a really advertisment for the game, since there are going to be many people of this community helping the newer players out (like they helped me).
Nevertheless this is a great game and i'll do my best to support it, even i can't help with money (yet).
