Hearthling names not showing

When I first see/kin a hearthling, their name shows above their head for a few seconds, it then fades and does not re appear.

I cannot see names above hearth fires either.

I think both of these are intended, but I do have to agree with how annoying they both can be. The best workaround I found was zooming in close and zooming back out which refreshes it for another couple of seconds.

I hope this gets changed soon enough since it is difficult to tell friends apart from strangers.

the names fading was one of the more stupid features which was why in the last game it was one of the first things fixed in custom clients.

Have you tried mouse-overing them? That's how you got to display them in old Haven.

I have a very strong personal dislike against having a lot of overlays and UI in the main game view, but I do agree there is a case to be made. I'll consider it. I just wish there were a good middle way.

try to leave it to your users to pick their style and not yourself, make an option for such things.

This is a thing where your ideology on design clashes with the players wants for functionality.

A good middle ground in my mind would be through toggleable options so players can have it either way to their preference. I cannot promise that the players wouldn't favour persistent names to be on though
