Storage in trunks and logs

As the subject, does anyone know if stuff that's stored in them disappear, e.g rot?

Nope, I've kept some things in there for 3 days already, nothing bad happens.

I saw berries and feathers in them, stuff that is like a birds nest basically. I also saw some bugs in them.

Thing is, I have no idea if they spawned or someone was very creative..
