Replace string with Feathers in arrows

Post by evanyu4 »

title says it all. I feel like its not only more practical but also more or a traditional look to the arrow. It would make a lot of sense and since so many things take a lot of sting already, It would help a lot. You could also counter this by reducing the feathers given by chickens. Just an Idea I know a lot of people probably are thinking. :D :D

How about both? You need the string to tie down the fletching (having actually fletched arrows, you need more than you'd suspect)

Yeah, I have to agree... but on the other hand, it's not that big of a deal when you have a lot hemp or flax fiber to use as string... early game it's a pain gathering all those strings. You need a lot of arrows because you miss so much at first.

How about both and all inventory sizes get doubled?

No, but it would make sense that the recipe output doubles, producing 2 arrows instead of one. :P

How would it make sense? You are either the best troll on the forums or the biggest larpomasochist.

Agreed I've also fletched and am working on a long bow right now. There should also be a new loot item with animals. Sinew. To make string, have to boil/soak it it and prepare it. Then you can twine it into whatever size of fiber you want.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NMofgGAUQ4g

Thats just leg sinew, there is also back sinew which is strongest and used for bow strings and perhaps sinew backing. Sinew would could be used in the fletching and the bow string for a bow.

Could change the bow creation system too. Where you make the bow and bow string separate and you can change out the string (like the fishing rod), so if you can get better quality bow string because your survival is high but not your carpentry it gives you a way to bring up your overall bow quality when you don't have a high carpentry.

More string types aren't a good thing to add, frankly. You'll have more than you know what to do with soon enough. I like perhaps being able to jump in quality from a few bear sinews but again, more butchering products usually ends up messy for the cupboards, once you kill a few bears you'll find yourself building extra houses and cupboards just to hold it all.
