I was really hoping this issue would be resolved, but it actually got worse. Not only you can block the entrance, but now if an unaware person enters a cave and the cave is blocked from the inside with a hearth fire, then you can't move neither you can exit the cave. You can either destroy the hearth fire or be forced to recall to your own hearth fire.
In my opinion, hearth fires shouldn't be used like that any more. Their usage was meant to be a way to return to your home, and everything else seems like an exploit to me. Just make them unable to block cave entrances, house entrances etc. or make people able to just walk over them.

Re: Hearth fires in front of caves
Moving through hearth fires would be cool! But i think there would be issues such as people blocking other peoples HF's by walking on them. But theres many other ways to block them too so i dont think it really matters.

I'm not sure that I have a strong argument against sketch colors - Jorb, November 2019

Re: Hearth fires in front of caves
Disabling the hearth fire's hitbox when adjacent to any kind of entrance would be a good solution, but that would be inconsistent behavior.
Personally, I would prefer if hearth fires simply could not be built on the tile in front of any kind of entrance. I would not be opposed to an unfortunate hearthfire malfunction (read: explosion) when placed in front of a cave entrance or exit.
If you want to have the cave to yourself, you should have to make the effort to build a wall.

Get your strength up! They're not permanent, and you can use them too.

Been an issue as long as I've been playing (4 years or so?). I think the general consensus is that the alternatives are too incosistent or cause worse issues.
You don't really want to live in an area that populated anyway I'd say. Move on and out

This has been a 'mechanic' of Haven & Hearth for ages, people use Caves and a hearthfire so their shit has a smaller chance of being stolen in the first week or so of a new world, after that claims are set up and walls are built, friends find each other and the hearthfire needs to be moved anyway.
Move away from population, the farther you go, the less caves you'll find occupied.
