How to Light A Kiln?

I light a fire with two branches, right click on the kiln but it says that it burned out before the kiln lights. There doesn't seem to be a light kiln option on the kiln itself. I'm not sure what to do.

Fire in stick burns out very quickly. be fast.

Worked. Thanks. I was being more careful than fast because I had missed my target and lost my fire a couple of times early on. Thanks for the help.
