There are a couple of bugs I've found with spit roasters.
First, the position you have to stand to turn the roaster appears to be dependent on the orientation of the fireplace, which can be different from the cosmetic location of the crank. My fireplace is in a corner where my fence passes my cabin, and it tries to move me into my cabin when I try to turn the spit.
The second bug partially offsets the first, because if I just leave a carcass on the spit for long enough, it eventually cooks even if I don't turn it and the fireplace isn't ever lit.

2nd thing: cooking slowly when not turning is intended, if there is heat (red bar).

Read what I wrote. No fire = no heat.

Re: Spit Roaster bugs
The positioning issue has been reported with all tool buildings that have no obvious front (cauldrons, etc). Visually, you move, but you're actually in the position you walked up to the tool in.

Yeah, but in this case it's not just a cosmetic bug. It prevents me from using the roasting spit, because I have to walk to an inaccessible location to use it. Also, I can't just pick it up and rotate it, like I could do with a cauldron because you can't lift a fireplace.

Re: Spit Roaster bugs
Neither are bugs. Both are intended. Locking.
