Heyy, me again. My ":cam bad" camera mode is now, in fact, bad: stuck to the "close-up" view, can't scroll the camera backwards or forward with mousewheel. Checked autohaven launcher, works fine there. Please look into it, that was a nice tool when terraforming, pretty much useless now.

Not sure whats going on, but after I updated my client yesterday at the clients prompting, the game seems to be significantly more sluggish than before.
Most of it is just trouble with general feel of gameplay, but it makes it much more tedious to play.
I tried downgrading and I still get that feeling.
I tried Ender's and the default, and neither of them seem to have this issue.

The easiest example I can give is that when I drag an item around the screen, on the default and Ender's the item keeps up with my curser or is slightly behind.
On this client, it is roughly a full second behind the curser.

I am assuming there is some settings issue, because of downgrading not resolving it, but I am not sure what the best of of testing that would be. I tried unchecking just about everything and the issue was not resolved, as well as unzipping an old install to a new folder.
On a desktop with very high end parts, so it is pretty definitely not a hardware issue.

Any suggestions on things to try?

Thanks!

(Turning off shadows didn't work, thanks for the suggestion though! Didn't want to clutter this with new posts)

Check that "bad camera scrolling sensitivity" in Dsiplay Settings is not on 0.

Unless crop stage is turned on there shouldn't be any differences versus previous version.
You could try clearing all preferences completely (it will delete *everything* including any saved accounts) by running this from command prompt

Code: Select all

reg delete "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JavaSoft\Prefs\haven" /f
But in any case, I am currently working on some optimizations for the next update.

That did remove the issue, but after setting everything back up it was back.
With some troubleshooting, it looks like the issue is showing quality on items. With any of the quality options checked there seems to be a rather large amount of delay added to just about everything I do.
The different settings seem to have different severities, with average seeming to cause the least problems oddly, show highest causing a bit more, and showing all qualities causing the most.

For performance info, I have a r9 390x and a 4930K, and 16gb ram, and nothing is being maxed out so its definitely not hitting any limits I can see. I tried dedicating a core to it and giving it realtime priority, but it didn't seem to change at all.

Trying enders client with all shown causes no problems for me besides having to hit a button to show them all, so I have to assume your implementation is a bit different than his.

Thanks for your work on the client. Ill use Ender's till this is fixed.

How about adding a notification when someone from your buddy list comes online .

Maybe something similar to the server restart warning a little window that pops up saying "romov is now online"
