Re: Server Status Thread
Perhaps, but perhaps not. I don't know what kind of server they have but I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume that two guys with no real retail backing can't afford a very grandiose server, and still afford the cost of living. NOW that the game has a small amount of monetization involved, they can definitely afford a better server. A stronger foundation built to support the needs of their playerbase, and maybe bring in a larger playerbase.

Lol at you people who think that 9 women can deliver a baby in one month. Or that shoving more pilots into an airplane will make it fly faster.
It's not an hardware failure, it's a software one. There is a bug in the code that causes the server to crash. It would crash exactly the same even if you rented out an Amazon EC2 with 20 Xeon processors.
That being said, setting up a hearbeat system that reacts to a lack of response from the server by restarting it is not a difficult task, Loftar. Even if it means the server will stand up with the bug still in the code, at least people will get to play the game (unless it's an exploit somebody jsut figured out and will abuse it to down the server all the time - you can avoid that by not auto-restarting a server if it downed two times in a specified timespan). It's also possible to setup a simple messaging service that will send you an email when the server goes down, then you will get a beep on your phone if you have internet access.

A dev that doesnt restart & fix the server sounds like a hardware failure to me.

I don't think we can assume their financial status is the reason the server is crashing. I am more inclined to believe it is more of a code issue, but I could possibly be wrong in my assumption too.
Also, when you come home from work to go to sleep, would you like it if you boss called/beeped you to say oh yeah by the way come in and put the stapler back onto the other desk and then you can go back to sleep or go out and enjoy your weekend. They will fix it when they can I am sure they have lives outside of their computers.

Re: Server Status Thread
step 1: get everyone hooked on haven.
step 2: make a new version with subscription cost.
step 3: bring back the old one with a one-time cost.
step 4: after everyone subscribed, crash new server to make everyone pay for the original version.
it's just good marketing guys.

Hmmm, over 2h ... Maybe some info? How long will it take? We are fixing/We don't give a ****?. Without technical details .... Just info that You are working on it would be great. That is called customer support.
Colorless is the lack of color. It values logic, power, answers to questions, design, apathy, and complication. It does not care about winning or loosing, its goal is simply to survive, upgrade and preserve its existance. Colorless is the jack of all trades, master of none

I'm genna say, "we are sleeping" and "we are a 2 man dev team". Unless you want Loftar to slip into insanity, I would let him get his well deserved rest.

They could be sleeping or have family commitments. A subscription doesn't entitle us to the 24/7 attentions.
