First Time Alive and Dead

Post by OSMrhodey »

So I'm new to playing HnH, I've watched plenty and read up on the general thing getting the basic idea.
So for days and days I'd been exploring. Raising my skills and stats and studying everything.
Gathered up plenty of materials and had myself fully clothed and geared up.

Had my @$$ kicked by bats once. Did not enjoy. :( [brutal mofos]
Finally decided to settle on down and build a place. Met a person who I was horribly nervous about. Turned out they're cool and we were friends.
[who ever plays SusanS. You're cool. :D ]

Welp. I was doing well. And then managed to get a friend interested to play the game as well. I decided I'd go off, I needed to explore and stuff, wait for my studies to expand my claim and continue building.
...The night prior I ran into yet another...bat. While I was raiding an ant hill. So I was really, really, REALLY, low on health. [22 max, increased to 43]
Went off, raided another ant hill, got nothing.
Raid one more...Nope. This did not work well. For some reason one was really really fast. Horribly fast.
Knocked me out. Then the rest came.

Hit. Hit. Dead.

...
Welp. Me and my friend met up with my new character. Already catching up.
Found a really interesting place to make into a home, it looks like it's now just generating, so lucky us?
But yeah.
[Susan if you find my dead head first, go for it! Take whatever you need. :) ]

Like someone said, better to die on a new character before getting months in. :'D

Just thought I'd share.
I was upset but hey. It happens! More exploration and teaching! :D
[and less aggressive villages living above me]

These threads make me feel happy, and then slowly awaken my inner murderer.

Just wait until you ARE months in, and your character gets ganked by some nerd squad. Truly a feeling I wish I never had to feel.

You have now ascended from the rank of "lowly plebe" to "aspiring hearthling". Welcome!

Honestly I could deal with getting killed by a player.
I feel this would happen every two seconds.

No. No...Play months in...die by an ant. AN ANT.
If you died by ants months into the game, all leveled and stuff. How much rage quitting would there be? A lot.

Hahaha!

Haha Yay!
At least I wasn't running in blind. Having some knowledge is better than none. :D

I'm actually quite partial to the beginner take on things. Everything felt so magical in my first hand full of hours on Haven. I wish I felt the same way for new haven. :(

True.
That would just be hilarious though.

Attack of the Killer Ants

Edit: When it becomes a repeating motion it's understandable. I was getting bored when building and having to repeat actions over and over and over again. It was bothersome but part of me felt urged on to continue.
I'd honestly say just try something new. Outside of the box. Go explore farther out.
It's more fun when you care less about it all and take it slow. :'D

Nice thread :) Good to see people who embrace the game for what it is and don't quit over small roadblocks.
