Apparently it is
I would say, even Warcraft 3 could do it, and that game is so old now.
But then I realised it still had the old Blizzard behind it.

I guess it depends on the quality of the re-skin, if it looks pretty enough and is being sold at an affordable price then sure.
I just want craftable dyes, given the preponderance of materials in the world.
jorb: I don't want *your* money. You are rude and boring. Go away. Sevenless: We already know real life has some pretty shitty game mechanics, it's why we're here instead. If the client handles 3D objects and wrap textures as 2 different types of asset then dyes would refer to recrafting the same item with dyes, the ultimate item being the same, only different texture (which is quite some work from jorb considering the amount of items available).
If 3D objects are directly linked to their textures then there is the need of basically reintroducing the same item x times (where x = the number of dyes available).
So yeah, dyes are kind of hard to introduce unless you have a flexible mesh system, but that means more computing power required.
That being said I think we'll enjoy the items as they are, at least for a while.

true, but maybe add something for items like backpack, cape and belt. I remember playing a bit of warhammer online, they had a pretty neat trinket system, where u could decorate your armor with skulls, badges, charms, etc.
something like that I would rather see tied to things you've done in game, skulls for player kills obviously, charms for certain foraging wotsits, I'm not sure, but I don't think paid recolours are a bad idea, as long as the item is still immediately identifiable.
