You don't actually. I build a palisade around my homestead, main gate and all, without that skill. I just can't make a duplicate of the key, but since I don't have access to metal anyhow that's nothing to worry 'bout.debone wrote:You need the skill 'Locks and Bolts'firemage wrote:You need to have two wall posts two tiles apart. If you have that right click on one of the posts and you get the option to build a gate, much the same as building a wall part or a post.
To acquire it you need 'Stone Working' then 'Metal Working', 'Lumberjacking' then 'Carpentry' then 'Wheelmaking' then 'Basic Mechanics' and finally 'Locks and Bolts'. A lot of LP![]()
Another tip to protect Property is leaving places nearby rivers, many plp explores using just the river.

DarkConvict wrote:Yes, stay away from rivers, downside is the need for a well and clay is a pain. Since you don't need much clay (just the initial bit to build up. You can use a cart and 4 cubboards, that should get you enough to get started.
Not sure but dont you need metal for lock and gates?
Cupboards can't be lifted unless they are empty.
Chests are the best option, but require metal.
Straw baskets, if you have that.
