I haven't played it (for more than a few minutes) myself, so I can't speak for it; but it seems Jorb's disappointment with WoW was one of the main inspirations for him to do Haven instead.Jackard wrote:look its possible that you have this... need... to hate all things popular but world of warcraft isnt actually a bad game

Re: Game Expansion
No, WoW is a bad game. The problem is that the average person is becoming less demanding of intellectually stimulating entertainment.
Therefore, WoW.
Therefore, WoW.

Re: Game Expansion
Spot on, winterbrass. Fortunately there is the availability of other, intellectually stimulating games. I continually find myself coming back to Wesnoth for such. H&H has it despite it's incomplete form and I do look forward to it's evolution.
Well what is this that I can't see
With ice cold hands takin' hold of me
Well I am death, none can excel

WoW is to games like UO's failed competitor 'Legends of Kesmai' as Harvest Moon is to Haven and Hearth.Jackard wrote:
If a game isn't challenging, with no penalties for failure, you might as well be playing Baby's First Online Game.
For an easy comparison, look at Hollywood and the way that they've cranked up the cheap, mindless drivel in recent years. You don't get much more mindless than comic book films. It's also glaringly visible in television shows. There are a great many television shows which explicitly spell out things that should be self-evident to people who have at least a 10th-grade education in mathematics or science.
Entertainment of all sorts have been dumbed-down significantly, and video games are no exception. It's called 'accessibility', and in order to have the broadest market for their product, their product has to be simple enough to use for the majority of their intended customers. And we've seen what that's done for products like Halo and World of Warcraft.
Then again, I like Dwarf Fortress, so I'm not entitled to an opinion on anything within a one-mile radius of the difficulty of video games because I clearly get off on masochism.

Re: Game Expansion
This is going of topic lol.
Anyway, It doesn't matter what you all think about Runescape, I couldn't even care less about what you think of WoW. The point is that this game would exactly remain as it is, and only adapted like how the creators would want it to be adapted. Its not because they'd work together with a company that made another MMO that this one will start to 'suck'.
Anyway I've given you some things to think about. Bear in mind that Mark Zückerberg & Andrew Gower never intended their site to be used on such a large schale... But it happened. I think it is worth considering.
The question remains though. Will Jagex find the game as good as I do?
Kind Regards,
~Purecasher. (To the kid ssaying i'm a bot. I added a . so you can see the difference.)

Re: Game Expansion
Well, considering Jagex started changing Runescape into a game for children, they probably won't, no.Purecasher wrote:This is going of topic lol.
