Parry working as intended?

The text on parry reads "If Parry blocks an attack, it will attack the opponent back" but I'm finding that as long as parry is up, it will send out a red attack every time one of your maneuvers blocks a green/blue attack, even if parry is in the back of the queue and doesn't actually soak up any damage. Parry easily sends out 4-5 attacks with each use if you queue some other defenses before it. Intentional??

i Don't know, but that sounds awesome. i resisted the urge to get a shield but now im all for it. (mainly because i have 1 carpentry)

Shield quality doesn't matter and you don't need a shield to use parry.
