Oh! It's the word bot that scares people. We'll have to change the name of the combat bot to "auto combat" ![Trollface ¦]](./images/smilies/troll.gif)

Re: New Brodgar Peace Treaty
So Ainran killed 1 person, looted a steel sword and took some badger hides from Brodgar, and then this thread goes up where Brodgar offers their protection to people. Shortly after that they say that they won't actually do anything if their members or treaty signers are attackedRobben_DuMarsch wrote:My primary focus is teaching New Brodgarians to download Amber and turn on auto-hearth.
We will fight major faction attacks by going AFK.
I'm not going to ask the casual New Brodgarians to stand in a pitched battle.
If we are repeatedly attacked by Ainran at 4:30 AM on weeknights like the morning we were before I posted this thread and you started rattling your sabres, and you guys actually manage to inflict casualties, we will probably just move away from the newbie grid.
But isn't the whole purpose of the treaty so that people can peacefully go to Brodgar and feel safe knowing that the armed guard of Brodgar will protect them?
How can you offer the security of a trade hub when you won't do anything?
Lol, so if we decide to go back, not only will they not fight back and let their villagers and whoever else signed their treaty die, they might just pack up and move away

Re: New Brodgar Peace Treaty
Ainran showed up at 4:30 AM, killed an afk scout alt from out of the faction that had been forced logged into our vclaim for a full week without dieing. They then walked over to an unwalled claim, picked up a steel sword and some Badger hides and left.
Yes, people visiting new brodgar to trade will have to deal with the risk of this "Mob Boss." They can decide if it's worth the risk traveling to the city.
I'm sure many will not want to come. Feel proud of your accomplishments.

Re: New Brodgar Peace Treaty
damn, that's terrifying bro. I can't even consider a peace treaty with you when you associate with this mob boss character here. Having any sort of relationships with them would be absolutely.... horrifying...
That said, what would a faction of noobs have to trade anyhow?
Not to mention the fact that you are ignoring any talk of actual peace treaties instead of the whining bout ainran. It's a bit sad really, new brodgar last world was so much more pleasant.... at least early on anyhow xd
Oh well, if ye're manufacturing enough steel swords that you can leave em laying about outside I suppose you don't really care about anything but a bit of drama.
Actually, good to know that valuables such as steel swords are laying in unwalled claims, please don't change.

It's pretty funny how much of a shitstorm killing an alt and stealing a sword can cause. Our "major faction attack" was a mere 3 people causing a tiny bit of trouble in your city, maybe you should treat us like bob dole and his little friend and hunt us down with 8 guys on horseback.

That would be a battle to witness, I shall get my bard to play 'flight of the Valkyries' over the ambient clash of arms and armor.bmjclark wrote:It's pretty funny how much of a shitstorm killing an alt and stealing a sword can cause. Re: New Brodgar Peace Treaty
The world, as of now, is so large, nobody can control a fraction of it. The only competition is for bodies to keep chores done and for trade. Anything else is purely a mental fabrication, much like the fantasy world we play in.Sevenless wrote: they need to be careful they don't get considered competition.
I really don't see the big factions competing for new players to join, and never have. They recruit vets most of the time, and by that point, most vets have made up their mind on which factions they like or don't like. This makes NB a perfect place to recruit players that have developed some experience in game mechanics and working in a village-like setting so they aren't complete noobs. If I were running one of the big factions, I'd be all buddy buddy with NB as long as they don't start stirring the pot like every other major faction ends up doing at some point in the game just so I could recruit skilled farmers, hunters, warriors, and miners. If I got those citizens pissed off at my socialist-pirate state, no way they're going to want to join me unless they become a bit power hungry, too.
