I don't know about video capture, but just for the record, without any such things being in place, what does the client say when you have turned ":stats on"? I'm referring specifically to the "Rendered" and "FPS" lines (including the idle counters). Do the problems only manifest themselves in a complex village, or in the wilderness as well?
As for your Radeon card, I'm curious -- not that I think it should probably matter, but just what GPU in the "7800 series" is it that you have? I also find it slightly strange that Windows wouldn't give the exact name, but what do I know.

Uh the Rx-2xx series is a rebrand of the 7xxx series... Apart from the flagships, they are the exact same cards, albeit some with altered stock clocks (unimportant as you can change clocks with a dozen utilities without voiding warranty or affecting longevity). The whole purpose is to fool consumers into buying the same products againkilakan wrote:It sounds like a mixture of things causing your lag JC. Your cpu is bottle-necking, your gpu is also a pretty old AMD model (even new R3-R9 amd models lag a tiny bit on HnH, it's poorly optimized for them as far as I can tell.)

The first thing I noticed when I clicked your vid is beehives
I'm convinced beehives are causing problems with fps but havent really tested it

Indeed, under all circumstances I very much doubt the GPU is insufficient. If anything, I would perhaps not be too surprised if it turned out that it was using the iGPU instead, but that's what I'm hoping that the data from :stats on would show.Glorthan wrote:Uh the Rx-2xx series is a rebrand of the 7xxx series...

Beehives and full trash stockpiles do indeed cause drops in fps.

Best defence tactic atm is to buy very powerful rig. And build your place full of beehives and garbage stockpiles.Archiplex wrote:MightySheep wrote:The first thing I noticed when I clicked your vid is beehives

Re: Why is the game a laggy shitheap
It starts lagging the second OBS starts grabbing a replay buffer and it stays that wayKoyu wrote:So, its definitely CPU problem and the game also properly uses all the cores - thats why it went a bit worse with changing affinity.
There are some ways to decrease the CPU bottleneck: optimize the game (where optimizing any program always takes shitload of time).
Play around a bit more with OBS setting trying to configure it to take the least possible amount of CPU, or try using a program that uses GPU to catch screen output.
Try out unparking CPU cores: http://coderbag.com/Programming-C/CPU-c ... ng-manager . It should make your CPU work a bit faster, increasing energy usage, so also temperatures (only slightly difference).
Try overclocking CPU if your cooling isn't bad and dont have high temperatures when it runs on max stress.
Buy new CPU - most shitty advice but always works.
Well also try out turning everything off and try stuff that would decrease any CPU usage.
Also a question, does it start to lag the moment you turn on the game with OBS, or when you are already playing a bit, like 10-20 minutes?
Any other games I've done this with have lost maybe 5 fps, but none of them have shit-canned this badly
I have the tab for this program pulled up but I'm hesitant to try it atm
I feel like my computer could keep the temp down decently but I'm not sure, I'll test it if these other options don't work out
I've picked up GPU-Zlachlaan wrote:Have you managed to check which GPU is being used for what? If it's FPS issues alone, then it might be a case of the recording software's encoding using the integrated graphics, which is (i believe) basically your CPU load being hogged. I've seen similar issues with certain programs using drivers that only solicit integrated graphics usage for what they think is lower GPU load , but which in turn murders the system.
Triple-check which GPU is under load with GPU-z or whatever other tool you might find.
Alternatively try that VirtualVM thinger to see what part of the game eats so much processing power. But my bet is on the recording software making your system think it needs to switch to integrated graphics.
Please give me some steps to follow to check what you're asking me to check. The program recognizes my intel HD graphics 4000 and my radeon 7800 so I can look at both

And I will test outside with and without OBS, then inside with and without
So, outside in the middle of nowhere without OBS recording a buffer
Rendered: 378+0(0)
FPS: 99 (Surprisingly)
With OBS on
Rendered: 406+0(0)
FPS: 45-50
^That is with literally nothing but trees on my screen (Upon walking up to my village walls with OBS on my fps dropped to 23 and 800+ rendered)
Now to go back inside the base...
In base with OBS off standing in my plot
Rendered: 1,397+61(1,956)
FPS: 39
In my plot with OBS on
Rendered: 1,398+61(1,956)
FPS: 17-19
As a test, this is in my plot with OBS on and 23 beehives within render distanceMightySheep wrote:The first thing I noticed when I clicked your vid is beehives
I'm convinced beehives are causing problems with fps but havent really tested it
Rendered: 1,383+72(2,700)
FPS: 17
At the idol with only 1 beehive in render (the idol has a mansion, an idol, some crates and industry objects, it also has about 40 brick stockpiles)
Rendered: 896+27(900)
FPS: 35
Simple crops turned on, shadows off

It can, actually, if the networking system is tied in with the processing of the video frames. You start getting lag, and fps will start dropping.Sever wrote:That should never happen, it shouldn't even be possible.jordancoles wrote:Also, can high ping = low fps? I don't feel like it does
