Are you using windows xp by chance?
if you are, please realize your computer is actually only accessing like 3.2 GB of ram. it cant access the full 4GB. So if you have shared ram on top of that you have a lot less. I know Skype takes up 1GB, Haven takes up another 1GB. before my other computer fried itself I couldn't take a Skype call and be on haven at the same time, I would run out of ram. and that's using a dedicated video card, not shared like it sounds you are.

Re: Very Low FPS
Who you replying to? OP or the above poster? OP already said he was using Win 7
Even with 1 GB for Skype and 1 GB used by Haven, that still leaves 1.2 GB of RAM. I'd say your problem wasn't RAM related on those crashes, unless it was the RAM that was going bad. (Last I looked at process explorer, Haven wasn't using a full GB... not even half a gig iirc, though that can be highly dependent on the scene that is loaded.)
Skype sucks... quit using it.

Re: Very Low FPS
When was the last time the laptop was formatted?
This 'could' potentially be down to huge registries, shit tonnes of 'back-end' programs like divx updater, acrobat updater etc collected over the years, potentially extra services no longer required gathered over the years from programs that may have left anything behind etc.
Or it may infact be hardware, have you tried running diagnostics on your memory and drives to check for any bad/dead sectors?

Closing this. It got bumped by spambot trying to get people to get sucked into an obvious virus trap.
