Those are not good or meaningful mechanics though. People just got used to them being an option and now fear their cheeses won't work anymore. Keys should have been completely exchanged for gate permissions before.

The only real loss for raiding someone is the inability to plant spies inside a town that can open the gates for you. That I would like to keep in game, but their should be ways to implement that if you flesh out the gate mechanic a little more.

I think this is a great update, thanks to the devs :) Little sad cities haven't been designed to have visitors now, will take some planning to do that. I still might not want everyone to see what quality kilns I am running and the like.

would be very nice to make solid colour village banners with the dyes you discover from buying a sketchpad, cause otherwise nobody is ever aloud to put anything on them and the tree remains our town symbol.

thats not true in theory, though. the weak and new are still weak and can always get raided - palibashers - but the strong with brickwalls are almost perfectly protected. what it did is make the strong stronger, and those strong ones hardly have to worry about consequences other than reputations now. i hope newb-killing doesnt increase by this.

that said, im still neutral to the update itself. i hope i enjoy it, and i kinda like it that i can invite strangers in, feeling secure enough! (not realistic, yeah, but ill have to see how this turns out to give my own opinion.
