Hi,
as you probably know, the vanilla client is a mess and one of the biggest reasons the game is so repulsive to newbies. A lot of tasks in the day to day life of a hearthling require a lot of clicks with a lot of precision which makes them more tedious than necessary. Im working on alleviating the pain of some of the most annoying tasks but i need your opinion on some things so if you have a moment here are a few questions. No registration required.
Do you use a custom client?
Do you use more than one hotkey bar?
Do you use the adventure/crafting menu hotkeys (bottom right, AD for dig, AF for fire etc etc)
Do you like the previously mentioned menu?
Do you use the spacebar (hides the top left and bottom right things)
Pathfinding aside, what is the biggest annoyance with the inferace/controls right for you right now?

This made me see the hotkeys as arcane magical words. Hardcore wizards memorize all of them and are able to make the greatest tasks with minimal effortDo you use the adventure/crafting menu hotkeys (bottom right, AD for dig, AF for fire etc etc)?
- Pls...i know all of them by heart, especially the 5 keys deep ones

I use spacebar because of that UI persistent bug where if you toggle it once it toggles FOREVER when you start. And that annoys the crap out of me.
I honestly feel that at some point a cleaned up custom client of some kind should replace vanilla. Not every bell and whistle is needed, clearly loftar would need to double check the code, creator willing.

This here, but I answered "no" as I don't USE it, it's just something I have to do in order to play. And that second last poll isn't biased in the slgihtest, nooSevenless wrote:I use spacebar because of that UI persistent bug where if you toggle it once it toggles FOREVER when you start. Re: Short survey about client related stuff
Apparently I'm a pro.
The bottom right menu is too small. Always has been. I could never figure out what lots of the submenu icons were supposed to be depicting until I used magnifier or something. The only reason I can tell what most things are is because I've gotton used to their unexpected icon (such as tar kiln, houses)

Come back two hours earlier.

I really would like to see an improved crafting menu. Things like Minecraft where you have to basically memorize the crafting are bad (PC, without mods). Other games like Terraria and Starbound where you have huge single lists are just annoying to get through to find what you want. (Search features... yaaa
)
As far as the toolbars... yeah. I put all my common crafts on them now so that I can quickly access various commands since I don't have to fill them up with combat moves anymore. All my farming related stuff on one, food on another, etc. Would be nice if I could put tools on the bar and it'd swap them for me (like Don't Starve).

Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

Re: Short survey about client related stuff
I use a couple key combos (AS for inspect, AY for destroy) but mostly use hotkey bars. I have 1 visible, but use alt 1-3 or 4 for different tasks, like mining, or building wells or trellis. Mostly I use the mouse, the icons are small, but I know where what I want is usually.
1 thing about alt hotkey bars that annoys me is that you cant put your water bottle on more than 1 bar.
