Well, if I can speak for most people here, its not only a sadness for the death, people die all the time, its that before whe had the sentiment that progress was something you catch and keep growing forever, like science progress.
An what make us sad is to see that barbarie could win, and that all may be to rebuild, sort of end of romain empire, and that make all the fights and sacrifices our ancestors made was in vain.

Re: Deepest condolence to the victims in France
@ overtyped - Well, here we do hear about it, regularly, and we host massive events to raise money for starving children, victims of disasters and victims of terrorist attacks, we have charity shops in every town that collect clothing and money all year round for all of these things and also send volunteers to help - I'm pretty sure your country does too.

Re: Deepest condolence to the victims in France
if you find it hypocritical, thats your call and its fine with me, but you dont have to shout how "aware" you are or you should be. i find your post more hypocritical, but that is just my take.overtyped wrote:I just find it hypocritical thats all.
The news people like fox, are having a field day. They lovvvvvve when stuff like this happens, because they get to report it, but do we ever see them reporting
the 3.1 million children under 5 years old that died last year from not getting enough to eat? No... because that's depressing.
But when 100 rich french fucks get killed, it's a big deal.
this is never about reporting or boasting or showing off how i get to hear of the news that are all over internet. whoever using these forums are all enjoying their own luxury of managing to spend time on gaming. i dont start a topic totally unrelated to tell you all how horrible lives certain people are having or blame you for not noticing that when you are having fun, because this place is not for that. im just doing this because i see there are haven players in france too. (which means, i dont start a thread trying to send my condolence to every tibetan or uygur or syrian or kurd or whoever not playing this game being killed every day no matter how sad i feel about it, and i wont expect those starving kids come to these forums to receive my message.)

Re: Deepest condolence to the victims in France
I often see posts like Granger and Bob dole on internet lately, this is a common copypasta:
France on the other hand is a great country, with great culture, which is why why we actually care what happens to the people there.
What you guys fail to realize is that nobody gives a damn about some 3rd world towel heads. I agree that all humans are born equal but if you grow up in a cesspit of barbaric islamic culture of violence then you just become a piece of trash, do you really expect us to care about what happens to that trash? It's like Albert Einstein says "Common sense is the collection of prejudices acquired by age eighteen.". A person is the product of his environment, if you grow up in some african shithole where mistreatment of women and stoning kids to death is the norm, then that is what you will become. They have no common sense or common decency in those backwards middle eastern countries.Yesterday nearly 100 innocent died in the Lebanon attack, 500 innocent killed in Palestine, 200 dead in Yemen, last year alone 400,000 killed in Syria, 5 years ago 1.5 million died in Iraq, a year back 70+ killed in Assam, yet no one said a word...The 'WORLD' stood silent.
In the Paris attacks today, around 150+ people died and the World seems to be loosing it's mind on Social Media and public platforms.
France on the other hand is a great country, with great culture, which is why why we actually care what happens to the people there.

John Donne
Meditation 17
Devotions upon Emergent Occasions
"No man is an iland, intire of it selfe; every man is a peece of the Continent, a part of the maine; if a clod bee washed away by the Sea, Europe is the lesse, as well as if a Promontorie were, as well as if a Mannor of thy friends or of thine owne were; any mans death diminishes me, because I am involved in Mankinde; And therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; It tolls for thee...."
I think this is the most fitting of the time.
Now as for those that speak of the other evils of this world. You have become self-aware of it, good for you. The next thing is what are you going to do about? Stand behind words, or put your own skin into the game? Give up of your time and your money? Give up your home, your bed? Give up what you hold most dear so that this evil you are aware of is cleaned from the world?
Edmund Burke once said: “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men should do nothing.”

Hate have no place in this fight, there will only be the victory of the reason, not the weapon, you cant kill an idear by killing people, they will more cherish this idea in the name of there martyrs, and make more children for revanche.
See Afganistan, see Israel vs Palestine, there is not end this way.
What we see, as the radical islamism grow, is that more and more moderate muslims begin to say that they dont agree with this.
When I was younger, most muslims were saying : they are our brothers, naughty brothers but we must be along them.
Its less and less this, see the arab springs, see all those muslims country who are ready to fight Daesh.
If you do it the american way, everybody will hate you, and first the people the most closed to the barbare, the people who could show them that they are wrong, the people who could kill the idear that lead to all those deaths.
Thats why after each attentat the main message of the gouvernement is : dont hate the muslims, most fiels in shame for what is done in the name of there god, a lots are victims to.
For some it looks like a "surender monkey" methode, but here we know the muslim from a very long time, we live with them, we know how they fiel, and we know you dont kill ideas with weapons.

Re: Deepest condolence to the victims in France
Humanity begins with each of us. When we decide to set that aside in the name of some cause or belief we have already lost our fight. Life is not always fair. People are not always fair. But one truth in it all is how we as Humans treat one another. I mourn for all who needlessly or intentionally are hurt. No one has the right to murder under any circumstance.
I can understand hurt, pain, and rage. But to intentionally choose to harm others who never harmed you... That is inhumanity. That is evil.
Maybe I am naive on all this but I know right from wrong. Bless all who have been hurt or lost and may their families know peace.

They tried that in the Nürnberg trial, you know. I'll also have to remind you that the Einstein you quote grew up in nationalist Germany. The environment only influences us when we already agree with it.MightySheep wrote:then that is what you will become.
Innocents dying is always sad, condolences etc. On the positive side, Parisians don't have to worry about being murdered in schools and universities, which I think is pretty neat.

Re: Deepest condolence to the victims in France
As a French player I have to say it is quite touching from you guys, half of my family lives in Paris and they are safe, as far as I know.
The sad thing is that the most likely reason is wars in the middle-east, politics choosed to make war and killed tons of people there, now some are migrating, fleeing war or poverty/hunger/whatever and come to Europe but among them are a few bad people who think killing civilians here is the right thing to do for politic/religious reasons... Killing never ends and innocents pay the price on both sides
If I were living in Paris I wouldn't worry but I would think about it at least... People got killed in public places for no reasonvenatorvenator wrote:Parisians don't have to worry about being murdered in schools and universities, which I think is pretty neat.
You have the right to have your own opinion but you could have the decency to show some respect for these dead people, this is not h&h, not an alt killed. This is broken hearts, broken families... And quite a shock for everyone here.overtyped wrote:The day I give a shit about some french fucks, is the day massive numbers of children stop dying of starvation in developing countries.
