Stone Column (probably also Mine Support)

Postby Lpzie » Wed Nov 25, 2015 8:42 am

Why is it that when I remove a support, even if I have supports all around it so that the removal of this support will not leave any gaps in the coverage area, I still get a cave in? It makes reorganizing underground areas much more difficult to do. This is not the expected behavior, I imagine. Can this please be fixed?

Because if we "fix" it that means you can remove all minesupports save the last.

Can it be coded differently so that the removed support checks to see if its effective coverage area is, well, covered? Whatever the mechanic is that checks for a support after a tile of rock is mined, use that over the whole coverage area of the removed support.

I fail to see how it follows that all supports can be removed except the last one. Any single support needs at least 3 supports around it to completely cover the area of the first. OK, so I remove 1 but added 3 more. How does it reduce if the check is done right as the support is removed?

I guess it's because currently you always get a cave-in when you remove the support, on the location of the support.

Jorb dosn't seem to be able to wrap his head around the idea that the unstable tiles that are supported should cave-in in case their last support is removed, which would also be a bigger mess in case you remove a single completely mined out support since you could have multiple cave-ins concurrently.
