I think the OP wants to know reset so he/she knows how much time they have left rather than know how long to wait to anticipating starting over. In that case, you have plenty of time.

World will reset when a lot more of the game patched in. at the current state there is tons of works that need to be done.

Re: Can I get an estimate of when the next world will come?
This game is not made to be kept running for longer periods of time without a wipe, atleast not in its current state.
The "end game" q grind is so mindnumbingly boring compared to the first month or two that alot of people, including me, lose the will to play. This can probably be seen on the active player numbers aswell.
While i can respect their vision that this game should never get reset, it is simply not there yet. For the good of the game (and for my will to play), i hope a wipe comes somewhere in the near future.

True, it can be boring - however resetting is not the best/only option. What the game needs is a fleshed out end-game that keeps people playing without boring grinds.Jaroslav wrote:This game is not made to be kept running for longer periods of time without a wipe, atleast not in its current state.

Two reasons:
1- Because as some have mentioned, the 'ideal' thing would be for the game world to last forever and game systems allow things to never get dull/boring instead of having to reset. Having to reset for the game to be "fun" again is proof of an end-game/sandbox experience design flaw. One that Jorb and Loftar seem eager to correct.
2- Although big villages/hardcore groups rapidly swim into end-game content and start a boring quality grind on week 2, already hoping for the next world, most casuals/hermits/lone players/small villages take a loooong time to accomplish all the things they want to. Resetting the world would only be frustrating for those people at this point (me included, we didn't even finish our brickwall yet!)
Jorb & Loftar have demonstrated already that they're cathering for all of their player base - not only hardcores but casuals, larpers, etc... This means that they'll take the slowest cycle into consideration.
That said, I think this world will last a while. Metal Q issue have (by accident) transformed the world into a dev playground and I don't think they'll lose the chance to experiment with that for as long it lasts before something actually breaks up
Personally, I honestly hope it lasts a lot more. New Thotoshire is not even close to completion and we have many dreams

Honestly, I can't see a solution to resets unless the game becomes HEAVILY consumable-driven, kinda like EVE is.DaniAngione wrote:True, it can be boring - however resetting is not the best/only option. Besides that, I have no idea. And I don't really think that resets are flaws, but it woulc be cool if it was something that the players could cause somehow.

To be fair, though, it was really only worlds 3 and 5 that were ended for such reasons.Avu wrote:If history is a good teacher when loftar fucks something up again and he can't salvage the world.

To be fair for world 6 and 7 you weren't actually developing so you didn't have the opportunity...

a man need only strike another to make him evil."

Can someone remind me the reason why world 6 ended?

Didn't world 6 and 7 have corrupt map areas too?loftar wrote:To be fair, though, it was really only worlds 3 and 5 that were ended for such reasons.Avu wrote:If history is a good teacher when loftar fucks something up again and he can't salvage the world.
