Re: hey loftar
I have played, I will play again after a restart ... Keep my eye on the forum but everything is boring right now. I'm sorry ... devs have my support but this phase of development I'll be skipping ..

loftar has had like 6 years to improve on mapgen, how hard is it?MagicManICT wrote:Let's let them get everything in place they want and tested (somewhat) thoroughly and loftar gets a few months to toy with working on improving mapgen more before talking too much about world resets.

Re: hey loftar
Beats me. He keeps on talking about how he wants to make it better, though. I'm not sure what else he wants to add or if he wants balance things better or what. It's just that if we never see another world reset again, the world that is generated is the one we're stuck with for good.bitza wrote:loftar has had like 6 years to improve on mapgen, how hard is it?

Re: hey loftar, answer us you coward!
The thing/issue with HnH is that might makes right.
In the real world, power comes from resource control. Food, water, energy etc. They use this leverage to control those who have the might and point them where they want them to be.
In a way, the farmer should be as powerfull as the warrior... as without the farmer, the warrior does not eat. Without the warrior the farmer is slain by another warrior.
But the way the system is built (a classless skill based system). Anybody can go out and farm corn, raise sheep, make cheese. Basically anybody can get an amount of a resource, then then take the higher quality resource that is produced by force later on.
I think they only way to prevent the might makes right way is to introduce a class system... even a loose one. So make it that as a warrior gets higher his/her ability to farm starts to reduce, so if they produce the food themselves they get diminishing returns. But if they specialise in warfare they will be dam good at it. Opening skills that would not be available if you where a jack of all trades hermit.
however, thats a fundamental change to the game. And would probably bring its own full set of problems... as well as the dreaded balance issues.

Re: hey loftar, answer us you coward!
very valid point.... It's hard for two guys to stop multi account, specially as two friends may play in the same connection legitimately. Easy way would be to not let two free accounts on the same IP... but that has the same issue really. Hmm maybe i'll have a think about this and suggest it in the ideas thread. (lord knows i've posted enough in there already, haha)shubla wrote:People wolud just make alts and bot all goods.Kalacia wrote:The thing/issue with HnH is that might makes right.

While you can stop multi-accounting, it takes some real dedication to do so. Only games that I know that actually do so are ones like Travian, what you can loosely call MMORTS, and then they take an extremely harsh line on it.

Re: How is the map generation going?
I'm sure you can see that, even in the event that we were planning to reset the map tomorrow, I couldn't very well let a word slip to suggest such a thing. Even mentioning that I was so much as looking at the mapgen code would probably make people flip out. :)overtyped wrote:hey loftar, answer us you coward!
