We talk about time periods because:vikingdragons wrote:why are we even talking about time periods?
1 - It is interesting to many of us personally to know what people got up to back in those days.
2 - While fun must be in the front seat at all times, achieving fun while remaining true to a theme improves immersion and generally delivers more fun than crazy random shit.
Calling people's discussions dumb and using curse words (damnit is a small curse word) and telling people off for bickering is both contradictory and self defeating, it makes you come across like an idiot.vikingdragons wrote:it is the dumbest discussion of realism in this game. i mean, we have hippie trees! and cannibal trees! and your discussing the time period! becuz of funeral rites? just throw in everything!!! i have sadi this like 3 times now, and you ppl continue to bicker among yourselfs! take the easy road for once dammit.

Re: Graves
all the burial mounds sites listed in germany are around 1200-800 or so BCEChakravanti wrote:First of all..it's wikipedia andthat second of the article has no references. Lastly 700-800AD is not too early for Christian influences on migratory pagans of uncertain origin and about whom there is a general lack of knowledge.
It may very well be that there are some exceptions but cremation or not, The burial mound as described in that - Repeat: Unreferenced - article, are still indicative of pagan death rites. General and anonymous. E.g. Mass graves versus memorializing individuals with rites and practices of preservation in the promise of resurrection.

Re: Graves
You're missing the point. They aren't graves or monuments to individuals. They're sacred sites where everyone is collectively buried with distinguishment or reference to individualism.
How fitting because no one gives a shit about anything you say either.vikingdragons wrote:trav...i really dont care what anyone thinks about me...

Re: Graves
It would also be fitting for monuments to be erected to very powerful (well developed, 200+ stats or 500+ str) players Somewhere in the village. Some sort of religious rite involving a funeral pyre for all dead players would be appropriate (another reason to make swimming non-lethal).

Re: Graves
If you agree that burial mounds fit the game, we're really just discussing semantics.

Don't give me shit. You love arguing semantics as much as I do.
